Fiction is one of Dark Tranquillity‘s greatest works, the melodeth and piano laced compositions taking the band’s sound to the next level of morose and demon clutching, teeth gnashing splendor. This is one of their records that can really stand next to any At The Gates release with pride, even if they don’t get as much love. Outstanding album full of darkness, hope and striving. Seriously, “The Lesser Faith” is one of the best metal songs I have ever heard in my fucking life.

On vinyl for the very first time – the expanded edition of Dark Tranquillity‘s powerful 2007 album Fiction.Package includes the original Fiction LP as well as a bonus 7″ featuring all four of the expanded edition tracks. The release will be available on 4/16/16 just in time for Record Store Day. Limited to 1,000 copies on red vinyl (with the 7″ on black vinyl, housed inside a black dust sleeve) and under exclusive license from Century Media. Here’s a list of participating locations that will have copies!

dark-tranquility-construct-coverSwedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity will be releasing their 10th full-length album, entitled Construct, on May 27th in Europe and on May 28th in North America via Century Media. The band has revealed the album’s cover artwork and tracklisting. Aside from the cover art, the album will also feature artwork throughout by the band’s own guitarist, Niklas Sundin.

The band had this to say about the new album:

“The selected few people that so far have been granted the privilege of hearing the full album are uniformingly convinced that ‘Construct’ is the strongest and most exciting D.T. album in a long time, and who are we to disagree? While still bearing the unmistakable mark of the dark tranquillity, the record is probably our most different and diverse offering since 1999’s ‘Projector’. For now, we’re pleased to share the track-list, trailer and sleeve design with you, but the first musical preview will appear in the near future.”

Dark Tranquillity splits with bassist Daniel Antonsson

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10:17 AM (PST)

daniel-antonsson-dark-tranquillitySwedish melodic death metal band, Dark Tranquillity, has amicably parted ways with their bassist, Daniel Antonsson. The split happened shortly before the band began the studio session for their upcoming 10th studio album, Construct.

This decision has been growing for awhile, and the main reason is that Daniel wanted to focus on his own musical projects, as well as work more in his recording studio. Being first and foremost a guitarist, he felt that playing bass in a full-time band didn’t allow him much time for his main instrument and true passion.

With this in mind, he chose to follow his heart and step aside at this point instead of committing to another album and an intense touring cycle that would leave little room for other activities.

Daniel issued the following statement:

“I want to thank the guys in DARK TRANQUILLITY and the amazing D.T. fans around the world for the last four years of touring around the globe! It´s been awesome! Also a huge hug to the DT crew and all of the people working with us. I will miss you all very much! You are like family to me and I hope we will meet again soon!

But…now is the time for me to follow my heart and again focus on my guitar playing and being a recording engineer/producer in my studio, Gothenburg Rock Studios. We will meet again on the road or in the studio – that’s for sure!

Horns up and Cheerz!”
