“It took time, but finally we had a chance to make it back to North America. After many successful tours there with acts like Cradle Of Filth and Dragonforce during the past few years, it’s great to return as a headliner. This is a killer combo with great variety– some of the most twisted acts of the folkier side of metal! Be prepared for a great night out– I expect to witness some crazy audiences!”

Turisas announce UK tour

Posted by Ehrila on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 9:48 AM (PST)

Finnish viking metallers Turisas announced that they will embark on a headlining tour in the UK starting October 27th, in support of their latest album “Stand Up And Fight” released in March, via Century Media Records.

They will also visit Dublin and Belfast co-headlining with Devin Townsend.

Violinist Olli Vänskä commented on the news:

“We did a similar run back in 2008 and it was a massive success. So many international bands only do a 3 – 4 date tours in the UK, only covering a couple of the major cities: we wanted to dig deeper and played a lot of shows also in smaller towns and cities. The audience seemed really appreciative and we had some super intense shows back then, and I’ve no doubt that this tour is going to be an exploding experience, too. It’s great to be able to return with such a good number of dates!”

So, we’re pulling our sleuth gear out to bring these heavy metal mysteries into the light and every Wednesday we’ll be pulling the curtain back to bring you sweet revelation.

“Iku-Turso, son of Old-age / Why art rising from the blue-sea? / Wherefore dost thou leave thy castle, / Show thyself to mighty heroes, / To the heroes of Wainola?”

Turisas announce European tour

Posted by Geoffy-Dee on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 1:19 PM (PST)

Folk Metallers Turisas have announced the dates for their “Stand Up and Fight” Tour which will begin in March 2011 in London.

Violinist Olli Vänskä comments: “It’s been a while since we’ve played anywhere in the UK or Continental Europe…. Time to fix that! I’m especially happy about doing the British club shows – it feels like so long since we’ve toured there (not counting the odd festival appearance). UK crowds are wild and they’ve always made us feel welcome over there. Thinking back, some of our best ever shows have been in the UK and Continental Europe, and we have no doubt that these shows will be something very special as well. We can’t wait to show off the new look and play some mean new tunes! And as for all you maniacs in Paris, Amsterdam and Vosselaar; by the time these shows come around it will have been nearly two years since we’ve seen you – but believe me, it WILL be worth the wait! We have something particularly savage in mind for you guys!”

The tour is in support of the band’s upcoming album “Stand up and Fight” which will be released on January 28th on Nuclear Blast Records. The band is also planning to tour North America with Cradle of Filth in February.
