Daisy Berkowitz (Scott Putesky) dies

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 9:04 PM (PST)

Marilyn Manson co-founder Scott Putesky has passed from his four year battle with cancer. There was something magical about the Portrait Of An American Family-era and “Daisy Berkowitz” was a gigantic part of that initial wow factor. The news broke via another of Putesky’s former bands, the incredible cult act Jack Off Jill. Jessicka Addams of JOJ was also in the news this week to tell the world of horrible abuse she allegedly suffered from Manson member Jeordie White. Record companies def cover for money making stars and we hope Addams finds peace and closure. It must be incredibly emotional to have lost her friend Scott so close to already dealing with the torrent of emotions that accompanies speaking up to a bigger power.

I missed that certain cartoony style and buzzy punkish rage that inhabited much of Putesky’s playing after that element was less prominent in Manson’s work (The Golden Age of Grotesque has maybe some of the closest moments). While I am a big fan of a number of later MM releases, there is something about Portrait that will always remind me of doing drugs in high school and escaping into that crazy tape in my walk man when the world seemed huge and too scary to treat as anything other than a mad carnival.

Read a great interview with Scott HERE.

Saying good bye to Scott, friend, band mate, artist , hero.. RIP Scott – "always touched by your presence dear." Daisy Berkowitz

Marilyn Manson releases “We Know Where You Fucking Live”

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 1:01 PM (PST)

Marilyn Manson has been, in my opinion, pretty consistent through his musical career overall, but most people always associate an artist’s ‘best’ work with their most popular period due to shared cultural reference points. The truth is, while a lot of Manson stuff on the last handful records drifted into the sort of mid-tempo pained moaning and self-deprecating poetry territory it wasn’t overall bad. Some people need stuff to be extra in their faces for it to make them feel the same level of adrenaline (look at Linkin Park fans who only like their first record when they have arguably been decent songwriters most of their career).

Anyway, if you like the more hard rock side of Manson you will likely dig this new single from 10th LP Heaven Upside Down (the album is due Oct. 6th from Loma Vista Recordings). It has the sense of social paranoia, some yeowling scratchy screams and a semi-stompy beat that will likely make it a strong live number. If anything it is a pointed examination of the lack of privacy in the swarming cesspool we call modern culture.

Check it out BELOW.

Deep Cuts: Marilyn Manson

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 6:02 PM (PST)

I’d bet cash that many of the people who are appalled that Antifa and Berkeley students wanted to protest Anne Coulter and Milo Nambla-palooza have someone in their family who prob was very up in arms when Marilyn Manson was touring Antichrist Superstar. And yes I know about the Nambla/Antifa story, which certainly is not the rule for every anti fascist. Unless you fucking believe #pizzagate, where every Democrat is a pedophile if they ordered pizza once. In which case I don’t know what to say other than… God speed. If you need me I’ll be over here trying to figure out the best way to remove my own rib so I can…nevermind.

See which MM songs made our Deep Cuts list out of many to choose from…BELOW.

Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson announce “Twins of Evil” tour

Posted by jessepac on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:09 PM (PST)

marilyn-manson-rob-zombie-tourIt what seems like such an obvious idea, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson will be trekking across America and most of Europe during their “Twins of Evil” tour. These two behemoths of modern metal, bringing a combined 50 years of performing to their fans, are teaming up to give what Zombie is calling “the ultimate abomination.” Rob Zombie’s guitars and drums are now played live by John5 and Ginger Fish, former Manson bandmates, which should prove to be potentially interesting.

“Finally! Why did the most obvious tour take so long to happen? Who knows? Who cares? It’s happening now,” stated Zombie. “If good taste is the chief enemy of great art, then we should be able to fill the Louvre with this fucking tour.”

Even stranger, the DJ-alter ego of Korn frontman Johnathan Davis is opening on select dates of this tour. Dubbed J Devil, Davis calls himself the “anti-christ of EDM.”

Marilyn Manson signs with Cooking Vinyl Records

Posted by flyngmonbob on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 6:13 PM (PST)

According to Blabbermouth.net, Industrial metal powerhouse Marilyn Manson has signed with Cooking Vinyl Records for the release of his upcoming 8th studio album. Manson parted ways with Interscope records, and now has a better chance to be more creative seeing as how the album will be released  not only by Cooking Vinyl records, but also Manson’s own Hell, etc. record label. This gives him the freedom to not have to work under another label, but instead work with his own guidelines. The album is almost done recording according to bassist Twiggy Ramirez.

Said Manson about the signing, “We will always be our worst audience, until we stop being an audience and start being an artist. Any art is flesh and blood, no matter how you perform, decorate or display it. But we all want the passionate horror of that blood. And blood is what I am here to bring.”

Manson’s most recent album, “Eat me, Drink me,” was released with Interscope Records on June 5th, 2007.
