CARCASS reveal “The Scythe’s Remorseless Swing” video

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 4:47 AM (PST)

Death metal institution Carcass always have devotees or critics fighting over which era is best but the fact is they have never released a bad album. They also have not been content to just do what people say either.

“The Scythe’s Remorseless Swing” from Torn Arteries has a very cool almost alt-rock intro that is interesting and sets the stage for the explosive and cynical mirth that follows. Dudes really brought their A game to this track, a dizzying array of memorable riffs and drum patterns paired with a snarled and cheeky analysis of inevitable mortality. The head bang to riff ratio is very high!

What’s not to love? And we all have “daddy issues with father time” here and there, right?

Carcass remain kings of what they do, a lack of pretension to their work allowing them to have decidedly more fun while still creating very blissfully bloody metallic atmospheres and self-aware snark.

Extreme metal absolute god damn legends Carcass have released a towering new stomper “The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue”, one of their more trudge worthy and clobbering numbers that alternates between brutal plodding murder and rampaging rage-gallop frenzy. The band have announced their first new music in seven years will take bloody shape in the form of the Despicable EP (out in October via Nuclear Blast). This bodes very well for their next record and is a way to tide fans over in the meantime.

Tracklisting for the EP:

01. “The Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue”
02. “The Long And Winding Bier Road”
03. “Under The Scalpel Blade” (album version)
04. “Slaughtered In Soho”

Carcass and Godflesh Peel Session available this week

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 6:25 AM (PST)

This coming Thursday at 2pm EST, the second release from the Earache Peel Sessions will be available to order from the Earache Webstore. Carcass get the A side and Godflesh the B side and since Peel was an important taste maker and it is an honor to be part of a Peel Session, you know both of these sessions deliver serious fuckin’ aggro goodness. Peel kinda helped Napalm Death gain more notoriety and helped showcase many bands John believed in over the years. And how gnarly is this art?!

As always, make sure you get there quickly if you’d like the most limited color from this vinyl release, as it will sell out quickly!

Carcass announce US tour with Obituary, Macabre, Exhumed, and Noisem too!

Posted by SeanB on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 6:12 PM (PST)

carcass_inked_in_steel_tour_2014Well this is exciting (if you don’t live where I do anyways).  Pioneering grindcore band Carcass have just announced a three week US tour covering a bunch of the areas that they missed last time around…and they’re bringing Exhumed and Noisem with them!  Obituary will be with them for most of the dates too with Macabre picking up where they leave off.  This is one badass lineup and if you live anywhere near one of these shows you need to go so I can live vicariously through someone.

For a complete list of dates and who’s going to be at each show click right here.

The tour is being called “Inked In Steel 2014” and even though the year is almost over, this looks like it might be one of the best so far.  Carcass released their sixth studio album called Surgical Steel earlier this year to stellar reviews. It was their first release since 1996’s Swansong.  Also, Hopefully Obituary have found the douche/douches who stole their backdrop while they were in Holland or at least have a new one by now.
