The Black Dahlia Murder or ‘The Show That Almost Wasn’t’ 10/15/17

The world is in turmoil! The threat of nuclear war with North Korea looms, The Presidency is in bed with Putin and people would rather shoot one another than engage in across the table politics. There is only one thing that can save humanity, Death Metal! Come with me on a magical journey to see The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth (well sort of), Necrot and Wormwitch . Click here if you would like to take the magical journey.

On October 6th, The Black Dahlia Murder will release their eighth full-length, Nightbringers, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, a video for the title track can be viewed at: – where the album can be pre-ordered. Surely Nightbringers will be a strong death metal year end list contender, as the band rarely ever disappoint. This has been another (cough) killer year for death metal with Succumb, Extremity, Beneath , Decrepit Birth and many more churning out bad ass new content for fans, so some new BDM will be a surely welcome cherry on top.

Death metal and nighttime are synonymous to me,” Trevor Strnad explains of the title. “We are the rulers of the darkened hours that the Christian good fears. A lot of archaic ideas that are still upheld – such as marriage and monogamy – came from Christianity, whether people want to acknowledge it or not, and to me, death metal has always been bucking that. It’s ‘being-the-villain music’, because we’re the enemy of Christianity, the enemy of all that is good and traditional. Death metal is for free thinkers, it’s for showing people the path to inner strength and operating on your own will, instead of being told what to do and living in fear, and songs like the title track and ‘Kings Of The Nightworld’ are about leading a legion of awakened minds into battle.”

New Music: The Black Dahlia Murder – “Into The Everblack”

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 3:00 PM (PST)

The-Black-Dahlia-Murder-Everblack-SmallDetroit melodic death metal outfit The Black Dahlia Murder have released the first single from their upcoming album Everblack.  The record will be the band’s sixth studio release and is due out this coming June 11, 2013 on Metal Blade Records.  The album art was painted by artist Nick Keller, with recording being completed at Audiohammer Studios (lead guitars and vocals), Rustbelt Studios (drums), and Regal Fecal (guitar and bass). Mixing was handled by Jason Suecof and Ryan Williams, while mastering was completed by Alan Douches at West Westside.

The first single is called “Into The Everblack” and can be found right here.

Vocalist Trevor Strnad recently had the following to say about Everblack’s lyrical concepts:

“The opening track is the first actual song we’ve done about the Black Dahlia. This one is for the fans… they’ve been asking for this to happen for a long time. The story takes place at the Elizabeth Short’s rain drenched funeral, where her killer in attendance… just one of the many macabre tales woven into the fabric of Everblack. Subterranean flesh-farming vampires, vine rape, Jeffery Dahmer, amputation… it’s all here! With this sixth slab of sickness I tried my best to honor the band’s legacy and write lyrics that will keep the legions of horror fiends perspiring with fear.”

The Black Dahlia Murder have finally let the cat out of the bag. The band has announced that once full time bass player Ryan “Bart” Williams has stepped down from his position as a member of the band to focus on a full time career in recording instead.

Vocalist Trevor Strand had these comments:

“Well kids, enough with all the secrets… it’s about time we in The Black Dahlia Murder clue you fans in and tell all about our recent hush hush bassist situation… I’m sure some of you who have seen us on tour in the last months have grown curious as to who this mystery man bass extraordinaire could be and have wondered what long time bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams could be up to. After months of tip-toeing around it, we’ve decided to break the silence and let you guys know the truth.”

Salutations once again cretins. I sat down with The Black Dahlia Murder‘s guitarist Ryan Knight and drummer Shannon Lucas to get some thoughts on natural disasters, DrawSomething and increasing their audience reach. Their most recent release, Ritual, has gained them a great deal more spotlight and I hoped to uncover what they plan on doing to continue that momentum. I then realized at the show later that night, their loyal fans are what keeps them going.

Here’s yet another deft description of my darling and I’s many death metal date nights. The destination for this evening of ear-splitting enchantment was to be Irving Plaza in New York City, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, and Skeletonwitch our marks. Inside was deceptively small, but not overflowing with heads. We managed to navigate quite nicely through the various merch tables, though lacking a fair amount of brutality in the wears. As for the show, we arrived just in time for Skeletonwitch to take the stage thrusting me right into photo mode in front of the Garnette brothers. Bring it on.

A full debrief over the show and some shitty amazing pictures await you on the next page.
