RED FANG have announced today plans to cancel a slew of upcoming appearances out of caution over the current shit minefield that is American touring during a pandemic.
Unfortunately, our cautious optimism has turned into stark realism and we have decided to cancel our appearance at Louder Than Life festival and our upcoming Fall US tour in the interest of public safety. We feel it’s not realistic to play shows in a safe/responsible manner and the best thing to do is hang back and wait until the situation improves. Until then, take care of each other. Love, Red Fang.
Refunds will be available at point of sale.
The humorous hard hitting heshers newest album is called Arrows and it fuckin’ slaps like gym shorts commando balls. Kudos to the band for following their moral compass.

True rock believers RED FANG return with Arrows this year, scheduled for a June 4th release via Relapse Records. I am loving the super limited tape option which probably already sold out as I write this. As for the title track video…it is certainly humorous. Don’t goof with katana swords though, kids. I remember in social studies class years ago my buddy and I interviewed this sword master guy once who said he knew of a guy who played with one once drunk and like decapitated his St. Bernard or something super horrible and that story has scarred me for years. The bong chopping here is much more benign.
“It was so gratifying to put these songs on tape with Funk!” says guitarist/vocalist Bryan Giles of the album that was produced by longtime collaborator Chris Funk (Murder The Mountains, Whales and Leeches). “It felt very comfortable with a loose schedule. We didn’t take it one song at a time, but added guitars, vocals, or general weirdness whenever an idea sprang to mind. We busted out a hurdy gurdy! It was that fun.
Long live Rock!!”
“WOW! We are SO EXCITED to finally release this record to the world! We finished the album way back in December 2019 and then… something happened that is not worth discussing…,” adds vocalist/bassist Aaron Beam. “Making this record felt totally loose and easy. It felt like we were just doing whatever the fuck we wanted, and not overthinking anything. That attitude reminded me a lot of what it felt like to make Murder the Mountains. The result doesn’t sound anything like MTM, but it has more of that vibe.”
News of the eagerly-awaited album, the band’s first collection in five years, arrives with a new chapter in the band’s unparalleled canon of Whitey McConnaughy-directed music videos as the foursome unveils a clip for“Arrows” (https://youtu.be/lwQPJ1G2n5o). “Arrows” finds Red Fang once again exploring creative ways to spend the label’s music video budget in a subtle nod to the band’s classic “Wires” video.
“His way of presenting us really works,” says guitarist David Sullivan of the band’s relationship with Whitey. “That first video he did for us for ‘Prehistoric Dog’ gave us a big jumpstart as far as the band getting popular. And we love working with him.”
Pre-orders for the 13-song album are available now, with Arrows available in a variety of formats, including standard versions of the LP, CD, cassette and digitally, as well as, a limited-edition liquid filled LP, deluxe CD (exclusive to Europe and Relapse.com), and two collectible bundles: LP with a limited Arrows blacklight poster and a Red Fang x Psycho Las Vegas limited-edition Texas Hold’em themed box set. Dubbed the Fortune Hunter Gamblers Pack, the poker-themed package includes branded casino-quality playing cards, dice, collector’s coin, custom boxing, and a card of authenticity (all featuring custom artwork by Ian Colazzo), as well as the LP, and t-shirt. Physical pre-orders are available via Relapse’s webstore (http://bit.ly/redfangarrows), while digital downloads and streaming links can be found here: (https://orcd.co/redfangarrows).

RED FANG, who recently celebrated their tenth anniversary with a trio of Northwestern U.S. performances, return to the studio in February, recording the follow-up to Whales & Leeches with famed producer Ross Robinson (Amen, Korn, At The Drive-In).
“I’ve never been more excited about making a record in my life,” said drummer John Sherman. “The writing process for this album has been super fun and full of energy and good vibes. And the opportunity to work with Ross Robinson is so crazy – I’ve got goose bumps just talking about it!!”

Portland, Oregon heavy metallers Red Fang have just released a new music video for their song “The Meadows.” The video is pretty much hilarious as it chronicles the band getting all dressed up to shove absurd amounts of food down their gullets, in slow motion. These guys usually put out pretty awesome videos, and this is no exception. Just a warning though, if you’re feeling hungry you might want to put down a quick meal before you watch. Or don’t because you might puke.
Red Fang released The Red Fang EP for free back in May under Scion AV and you can find it here if you’re interested. It included this song and another called “The Shadows.” The band also released a full length called Whales and Leeches last October via Relapse earning their best sales and critical response to date.
In celebration of the band’s upcoming European Tour, Portland, OR’s huggable hard rock supervillains RED FANG have released a free acoustic EP via Metal Hammer, Bandcamp, Amazon MP3 and all streaming portals.
The EP was recorded this past March in London as an Absolute Music Bunker session for TeamRock.com. The songs mark the first time the band recorded any acoustic interpretations of their material and the EP includes the original album versions of each track as well.
Click HERE to check it out. The cover art reminds me of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion a little bit. Wolf sweat!!!
Portland, OR’s hard rock heroes RED FANGhave revealed a “playthrough” video for the song “No Hope” off their latest album Whales and Leeches. In keeping up with with the rising popularity of instructional videos, the members got together to show their fans and critics how to play the track on a variety of non-traditional instruments. Check out the clip streaming exclusively via Gear Godshere.
Additionally, the band is gearing up to kick off the second leg of their headlining European tour with label-mates Lord Dying and The Shrine. A full list of dates including many recently upgraded, bigger venues is included below along with a string of recently announced European summer festival appearances. The band will also be playing a special hometown show at the Wonder Ballroom on March 8th in Portland, OR before embarking on the month long trek.
RED FANG have been making waves with their latest album, Whales and Leeches, recently performing their single “Blood Like Cream” on Late Night With David Letterman (Watch the clip here) and releasing another one of their signature, hilarious music videos directed by longtime collaborator Whitey McConnaughy for the same song (Watch it here).
Red Fang also recently recorded a tantalizing cover of Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling In Love” for the Portland compilation series “Fools Rush In.” The song is available for download here.
Released October 15 on Relapse Records,Whales and Leechesdebuted at #66 on the Billboard Album Chart, marking the group’s highest sales week and first debut in the Top 200. RED FANG are generating critical acclaim from SPIN, Revolver, Magnet, Alternative Press and more for their new album which was produced by Chris Funk (Decemberists) and mixed by Vance Powell (White Stripes, Raconteurs, Kings of Leon). Featuring such guests as Mike Scheidt (Yob) and Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession), Whales and Leeches propels RED FANG into the upper stratosphere of the heavy rock and metal elite. Stream the entire record via Bandcamp here.
This record doesn’t really need any more press, considering it was one of the most anticipated of in recent muddy memory. I should be telling you to check out the newest from Nhor or Wolfheart…but still, Metal Riot has to chime in, since we are (dare I say) a somewhat reputable and popular site for all things hairy, hoary and goat whoring. It is hard to judge Red Fang on their own merits, because they are so hyped. If any band kind of gets saddled with the pressure to be the next Mastodon, Red Fang have sort of inherited the burden through sheer popularity. Let’s face it, imposing expectations on a band like that is kind of unfair and demanding. And God/The Devil/Gaia forbid a great band does get more popular, like The Sword. It often means they are subject to bitter, keyboard cowboy potshots. Sometimes this type of attitude leads to bands being more similar or insular, protected by stylistic similarity. Other times it means someone rebels and breaks the mold more.
In the case of Red Fang 3.0, they return hard with more rock n’ roll centric sludge metal, a fairly accessible but nonetheless non-pussified and burly sound that is impossible for bearded young men and women with IPA’s in hand to resist. Whales and Leeches isn’t as manic as their debut or Murder The Mountains but is probably better than both overall. There is no “Wires” but there are plenty of cuts that will stick to you like gorilla snot. “Blood Like Cream” was a great choice for a single, a mentally ill and obsessive feeling celebration that is kinda garagey. My favorite of the album is track #3, the Black Flag-level rollicking “No Hope”, with a simple bar fight bassline to kill for. When Red Fang buckle down and just plain deliver, it is the kind of straight pay off that explains their popularity. Now if more of their fans would discover similarly riff-centric and rocking albums like Castle’s fucking awesome Blacklands or the more doomy and emotionally draining but cathartic Lumbar record (for example), I’d be stoked.

The headline just about says it all. Portland, Oregon metal band Red Fang are looking for people to play drunk zombies for a music video. Since it’s location specific I normally wouldn’t post this kind of thing but that’s just super bad ass. If you are in the Portland, Oregon area get ourselves our there for this.
Relapse Records comments: “You will be playing the part of a terrifying new breed of zombie, a beer zombie! These zombies will stop at nothing in order to consume beer. These zombies aren’t dead, just dead drunk. We will need your best stumbling drunk impressions for the camera as you run amok.
“We are looking for all types of people, young, old, men and women. If interested you need to email your name and phone number to redfangextras@gmail.com (if possible, please include a photo of yourself) You will then be emailed the location and shoot time.
“Please try to bring at least 2-3 different wardrobe items. We will be outside all day, so dress weather appropriate. We would love it if you dressed a part, maybe a trashman, surgeon, business man, Quickie mart clerk, mechanic, mail man, etc. Anything will work but we’d love to have a wide range of looks, not all jean jackets and black jeans.
“If you have a favorite beer coozie, beer can helmet, beer bong, beer mug or any other drinking accessory please bring it with you.”

While we weren’t too pleased with Red Fang‘s last album Murder the Mountains, their intial burst onto the music scene was with the hilarious video for “Prehistoric Dog.” The gang has figured out that funny equals money, so the new track “Hank is Dead” sees the band try their hand at slapstick again.
The video starts with a man drinking a beer in a shower (a personal favorite activity of mine) and sees the band head to an Air Guitar battle for the ages.

Escuela Grind is one of the most intense AND fun bands out right now in the extreme metal scene. Anyone who has seen the outfit live knows they put on a careening and death-defying show, blending elements of many of the heaviest sub genres into a world changing charge. It has been awesome discovering truly fired up and creative acts such as them, Habak or Hostilities this year, giving me hope for the next generation of ass kickers. When I heard Indoctrination I was hooked and feel blessed Escuela Grind were one of the first bands I caught live when shows revved up again. Long may they reign.
