Anvil prepare to release ‘Pounding The Pavement’

Posted by longhairedpoet on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 5:01 PM (PST)

Canadian heavy metallers Anvil are preparing to release their 17th studio album Pounding The Pavement on January 19 via SPV/Steamhammer.

Anvil will be heading out on tour through Europe in support of the album starting in February.

Pounding The Pavement was produced at the Soundlodge studios in Rhauderfehn in the northwest of Germany, where Anvil found not only the necessary peace and seclusion to concentrate on their recordings, but also met in studio owner Jörg Uken the ideal producer for their ambitioned work. Talking of which: the programmatic album title Pounding The Pavement is a synonym for the consistently serious challenge of ensuring Anvil’s financial survival. Steve Kudlow (guitars/vocals): “I feel nothing could describe the way we’ve been working for the past forty years better than Pounding The Pavement: Anvil have tried for four decades to earn enough money to survive and continue to make music.”

In view of their impressive new album which brims over with inspiration, Anvil can look into the future with optimism, knowing that they have succeeded – as expressed in their song ´Doing What I Want` – in not having to pander to anyone’s taste artistically: “Despite all adversities that the life of a musician entails, we still find ourselves in a very privileged position. We can basically do what we want to do. Nobody interferes, nobody tries to steer us in one direction or the other. Which other artists can say that of themselves? Even the biggest bands in the world envy us and tell us: ‘You damn bastards have always been able to do what you want.’ And that’s precisely what we’ve done again on Pounding The Pavement.”

AnvilCanadian heavy metal veterans Anvil have signed a new recording contract with The End Records.  As recently announced, the band is currently recording their upcoming album entitled “Juggernaut of Justice” at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California with famed producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Airbourne, Filter, Atreyu, Alice Cooper). “Juggernaut of Justice” is due to be released in Spring 2011.

Prior to the release of the new album, The End will be releasing the definitive Anvil anthology. The collection will be comprised of classics old and new, with some surprises, and will showcase the band’s entire career spanning back to 1978.

Lips commented, “I must say that this is by far the best Anvil ever. There will be a few new surprises including Glenn 5’s first lead vocals in Anvil’s history. The production that Bob Marlette has done far surpasses anything we’ve done in the past. The excitement within the band is over the top and we can’t wait to unleash this amazing cd to the fans.”

Reiner concurs, “The new album is pure Anvil with a new fresh kick, very exciting. Looking to rocking with The End, putting the music where it belongs – in everybody’s ears and face!”
