Add to My RadarRockstar Energy Mayhem is always one of the funnest hard rock and metal fests around. They first and foremost treat press with respect and the PR team is great, plus the bands every year cover a pretty fair cross section of what heavy music is all about. This year was no exception and we sent our enthusiastic photographer Catharina Christiana to shoot the Saratoga Performing Arts Center date of the tour.
Peep exclusive pics of Korn, Islander, Wretched, Avenged Sevenfold and more! Heavy music is alive.

Add to My RadarThis is the year I hope Wretched really blow up and show everyone they are much better than many of their “peers”. These guys put to shame all the death core and floppy breakdown bullshit and auto clean vocal djent crap I am so sick of as a music journalist/fan. If you like heavy death music, Wretched are genuinely exciting! Imagine that!
Now I thought cannibals were made through extreme exposure to cold and desperation after plane crashes or just a general sense of hunger. That is not the case if you are a world class metal band.
Check in with WRETCHED at the studio, as guitarist, Joel Moore, talks you through the process of recording their forthcoming album, Cannibal. Moore describes Cannibal as the “most badass album WRETCHED has ever created,” going on to say, “These are some of the most technically challenging songs that we’ve ever written. If something wasn’t sounding right, we scrapped it and started over.”
Watch the “Making Of Cannibal – Part 2”.
Don’t miss WRETCHED perform tracks from Cannibal live all summer long on the Victory Records Stage at the 2014 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. View the full list of dates
here.
Lambgoat are streaming “Morsel” from Victory Records standouts Wretched. By far the most brutal band on the label now that Pathology are no longer on the roster, WRETCHED’s Cannibal will be available everywhere on June 10th, 2014. Doesn’t that album cover warm your heart, metal heads? A skull with skulls for eye balls eating heads. And if you Google “wretched” and “cannibal” you get a lot of results for The Wretched Spawn, a lesser appreciated Cannibal Corpse album, f.y.i.
You can also download the digital single for Wretched’s “Cranial Infestation”at iTunes and AmazonMP3 today.
Check the animated head eating shenanigans HERE.
Add to My RadarThe Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is much tastier than the drink it helps promote. This year’s line-up is pretty diverse, with everyone from Body Count (Muthafuckaaaa!) to Wretched (sure to own the Victory Stage), and fan faves Veil Of Maya, Korn and Suicide Silence. You’ve even got Cannibal Corpse and Avenged Sevenfold for as big a contrast possible! Mushroomhead, Trivium, Asking Alexandira, Miss May I and more ensure there is something for most people (except black metal fans). Still, Darkest Hour and Islander kick ass and c’mon, who doesn’t want to be entertained by Ice-T?
My girl caught me skeezin’, she said, I wasn’t shit
I said, “It wasn’t me, baby, it was the muthafucka, evil dick”

Add to My RadarNorth Carolina melodic death metallers, Wretched, have announced they are working on a new album entitled “Son Of Perdition.” The new album is going to be produced by Jamie King in The Basement Studio in Winston Salem, North Carolina. This will also be their first album to feature Adam Cody and Andrew Grevey. Guitarist Steve Funderburk has claimed that the album will be more melodic and has also stated:
“Lyrically, the fans can expect an apocalyptic-type theme that portrays a very personal experience. This record will include some of our darkest and most mature material written to date.”
“Son Of Perdition” will be released March 27th through Victory Records.
Add to My RadarNorth Carolina’s melodic death metal shredders Wretched have debuted the video for “My Carrion” from their latest album “Beyond the Gate”. Wretched may have begun as a jam band in 2005, but Steven Funderburk (guitar) and Marshall Wieczorek (drums) knew the first time that they played together there was a strong connection. Throughout the past few years, the band has progressed in awareness of music theory and composition, allowing them to create distinctive, quality music. “We always make sure our songs and music are structured very well and are carefully thought out,” states Funderburk, “we put feeling and soul into our music.” This is no more evident than in their new video for “My Carrion.” The band brings vicious guitar solos, masterfully crafted drumming, and commanding vocals to the desert – allowing nothing but the ripping musicianship to shine. Wretched’s “Beyond The Gate” is available now from Victory Records.
