Mighty Asphyx  are treating fans to a celebration of three decades of Netherlands extreme metal.

In addition to the previously announced and sold out anniversary show at the Turock venue in Essen, Germany on Saturday, November 18, 2017, ASPHYX have now announced a second (matinee) show in the same location for the day after, Sunday, November 19, 2017. These two “30 Year Anniversary” concerts will not only be supported by metal comrades Pentacle and Soulburn, but also feature long ASPHYX sets, special merchandise and Meet & Greet opportunities with former band members like Eric Daniels, Bob Bagchus, Wannes Gubbels, Ronnie van der Wey, Roel Sanders or Sander van Hoof.

Tickets go on sale today and will sell out quickly, hurry and reserve yours now here! Further details can also be found directly on the venue’s website: http://www.turock.de.

ASPHYX have checked in with the following message about the anniversary shows:
“Salutations Asphyxians! Due to the unexpected, rapid sell out of our 30 years anniversary show in Turock, Essen, Germany on November 18th, for which our massive gratitude, we decided for those who could not obtain a ticket, to do an extra show the very next day. So, Sunday the 19th of November 2017. Same bill, same set, same goodies, same price. Just a little earlier, doors open at 15.00 hours, so everybody can get back to work on time the next day. Cheerz and see you all in November!”

November 17, 2017 will also mark the long overdue release date for a special and limited anniversary version of ASPHYX’s classic debut album, “The Rack”, as a double-album, containing both the original album as well as a special bonus version of the entire album sequence covered by friends and peers of the group. More details and formats of this project will be unveiled soon, so stay tuned!

Asphyx announce tour; working on new album

Posted by longhairedpoet on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 4:28 PM (PST)

Asphyx

Dutch doom-death warriors Aspyhx are working on the follow up to their 2012 album Deathhammer.

Vocalist Martin van Drunen had this to say about the progress of the album and touring:

“ASPHYX recently ended a small tour throughout Latin America, which was the first tour of the band for over 20 years. We performed in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Sao Paolo, Curitiba, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Lima, Mexico City, San Jose and Medellin. Thanks to all local promoters and venues, D-19 and especially our dedicated and insane fans it became a fantastic experience we’ll never forget and a great success for ASPHYX. So a massive “cheerz a lot!” to everybody in making this possible and all the hordes that came to support the band. So many stories to tell, so many great times and shows we had. Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia; all you crazy metal heads can be proud of your countries and continent where death metal is so very much alive. It was indeed Death… The Brutal Way! And let’s hope ASPHYX can return in the near future! In January 2016 ASPHYX will hit the rehearsal room to finish composing and arranging the final pieces for the follow up of Deathhammer. And then hit the studio for the primary recordings, which will also feature Stefan ‘Tormentor’ Hueskens on drums for the very first time. So we start the new year off promising and 2016 will definitely see another brutal ASPHYX album in our own particular style.”

In regards to the new video, the band had this to say:

Yet another official Asphyx video, but this time slightly differently. A furious, ‘fast’ clip with aggressive filming, which fits the song perfectly. This one was shot by Maurice of Legion Of The Damned and we knew that he could capture the spirit and intensity of the song 100%.And he did. The clip shows Asphyxin a true way….a band being themselves and doing their own thing. Enjoy!

New Music: “Deathhammer” off Asphyx upcoming album “Deathhammer”

Dutch death metallers Asphyx are streaming their new song “Deathhammer” off their upcoming album of the same name. Click here to listen to the track.

“Deathhammer” will be the band’s 8th studio album. It is set to be released on February 27th in Europe and February 28th in North America via Century Media.

In regards to the new track, the band had this to say:

“To us this song is 100% real death metal! It’s heavy, aggressive and it simply can’t get more in your face than this. This song is composed by just a few shredding riffs which stick in your brain like a buzz-saw, vocals so angry that it could be a declaration of war, relentlessly pounding drums and a bass that roars like a tank. We are very proud of this song since it shows our view on real death metal: how we’ve always seen it, how we feel it and how we want it to be! Martin already roared a clear statement in the very beginning of this song: THIS IS TRUE DEATH METAL, YOU BASTARDS! And so it is!”

Asphyx release cover artwork and details for upcoming album “Deathhammer”

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:39 AM (PST)

Dutch death metal band Asphyx have recently finished work on “Deathhammer,” their 8th studio album. It is set to be released on February 27th in Europe and February 28th in North America via Century Media.

The band has released the album’s cover artwork which was designed by their long-time partner in designs, Axel Hermann. In regards to their new collaboration, both parties comment:

“ASPHYX and Axel Hermann is a fusion that has always functioned perfectly…from the days of ‘The Rack’ back in 1991, ’til ‘Deathhammer’ in 2012. Like others such as Dan Swanö, Axel may be considered as an external member of the band and when we asked him to do the ‘Deathhammer’ cover–and as usual we would leave him free in his expression–we were very pleased to hear he was willing to take it on.

…And the man has exceeded himself! To the perfect death metal album comes the perfect cover that still leaves enough to everyone’s imagination. We hope he is as proud as we are on the final result. It seems all falls into place for this deathdozer of an album. I guess Axel can expect an offer from Le Louvre any time now.” – Martin van Drunen, ASPHYX

“A cover is the visual extension of an album that translates music and emotional intentions (or should I say aggression) into a clear statement of what to expect before taking the record off the shelf. In seldom cases you’re ending up with two perfect sides of the same coin. With ASPHYX and myself it has always and luckily been that case. And I am really proud of that! Show ’em Death and hit them with a hammer…visually and musically! Guess, we flipped the coin once more!?” – Axel Hermann

Asphyx studio update on “Deathhammer”

Posted by NichTheHair on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 1:12 PM (PST)

Dutch death metal band Asphyx is currently working on songs for the upcoming “Deathhammer” album. In January, Asphyx will again enter the Sonic Assault studio to record the first tracks together with their sound engineer, Frank Klein Douwel. Current titles are “Reign of the Brute,” “Vespa Cabro,” “We Doom You To Death,” “Asphyx-Minefield,” and the title track, “Deathhammer.” Axel Hermann will do the cover artwork, and Dan Swanö will do the mixing again. “Deathhammer” will be released from Century Media.

This release marks their eighth full length album in their more than twenty year career. “Deathhammer” is preceded by “Death…The Brutal Way” which was released in June 2009, which was their first release since 2000’s “On the Wings of Inferno.” After many break-ups and disbanding, Asphyx seem to have worked out all the mess and continue to put forth a brutal effort in death metal.
