Dig Deep, the latest from metallers After The Burial, will be out Feb. 19th through Sumerian.

If the cover art vibes and fact that this is their first without troubled and departed guitarist Justin Lowe doesn’t affect you a little bit, you are pretty heartless.

Tracklisting BELOW (along with the meticulously staccato and effectively energized metalcore of “Lost In The Static”.)

As summer draws to an end so do the season’s festivals. Now you’re probably wondering what prompted me to wait so long to post this.
Along with crazy technical difficulties on my end, I really wanted to see how this summer’s festival season would end. Let’s be honest…there was
quite a bit of drama going on. For those of you who haven’t been keeping up to date with everything here is a quick recap of everything that has transpired this summer.

– After The Burial member dead after leaving a horrifying Facebook post for fans to see, forcing the band to cancel their appearance on The Summer Slaughter Tour
– Drama between the bands on Mayhem Festival (Slayer’s King vs Victory Records’ stage)
– The end of Mayhem Festival as a whole (poor ticket sales, Kevin Lyman’s “Old and Fat” comment)
– Warped Tour’s Front Porch Step mishap / Slaves being kicked off or ‘Voted off’ the tour / the tour turned 21

Now, where to begin? Let us begin with After The Burial’s unfortunate loss. After the eerie post by Justin Lowe stating that people were setting him up for crimes he hadn’t committed, the band took to Facebook stating that despite their efforts to assist Lowe that they had been unsuccessful in their attempts to pick him out of this slump that he had been in. The band cited mental illness as the reason for his off the wall Facebook post.

To be honest. After The Burial are not a band I’ve really checked out much. I know they have been around awhile and have a lot of fans. Just never really investigated them. That said, it’s sad to learn of the passing of their guitarist Justin Lowe, recently reported to be suffering from mental illness. As a manic depressive person myself I can relate to this. I was in a suicide ward once.

For all the jokes out there about husbands of the year Scott Stapp and Wes from Puddle of Mudd playing in traffic or getting Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory or riding Airport baggage carousels, this type of stuff is really sad on more human levels. Depression and mental health should be treated more seriously in this country.

Find out more HERE.

Seems like Justin was a real talent and touched a lot of hearts.

I am Stoked to finally be getting the chance to go back out and hit the road with ‘The Groove Machine’! This tour will be a mixture of DEVILDRIVER favorites and a bunch of new stuff off of our new record Winter Kills. I cannot wait for the record to come out and to get back to what we do best, play live. Touring with our friends in Trivium, After the Burial and Sylosis is just the fucking bonus! Come on out for a great night of metal, get ready to get down and dirty, see you in the pit!”

After The Burial release new digital EP

Posted by longhairedpoet on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2:35 PM (PST)

AfterTheBurial - In Dreams cover Minnesotaian metalcorers, After the Burial, have released the This Life Is All We Have digital EP.

Guitarist Justin Lowe had this to say on the EP and the upcoming album:

“Right now we are currently right in the middle of the tracking process of our new album. We’re almost finished with the guitars, with just a couple tracks to go. When we track the guitars for our albums we like to take our time getting the good takes, not relying on too much editing. There also usually tends to be changes being made along the way, with new ideas being born within the tracking process. If I had to describe the sound of the new material in one shot, it wouldn’t be easy. We’ve dedicated a lot of time working on these songs to make sure that you are hearing something fresh and new. Something that makes you feel good when you hear it. There’s some 6,7 and 8 string work in there and also a new lower tuning in C#. It’s hard to describe the sound unless you hear it. It’s almost ‘mechanical’ and very percussive. We love trying all sorts of new ideas, sounds, and pushing boundaries of new musical territory that will help set us apart from the rest. We’ve never been afraid to try anything; we want to keep you on your toes.”
