Venom Prison exit scheduled dates with Decapitated, issue statement

UK extreme metallers Venom Prison are one of the most exciting and take no shit bands in death metal right now, a massive breath of fresh air. Now the band have done the right thing and pulled out of upcoming tour dates with Decapitated in response to the band’s gang rape allegations. Read their statement below.

It is with great dismay that Venom Prison is opting to pull out of our scheduled dates in the UK with Decapitated. As you are no doubt aware, the members of Decapitated were arrested on Saturday, 9th September in Santa Ana, California.

It is no secret that Venom Prison are opposed to rape and sexual assault, the band continue to advocate women’s rights and bring attention to the many serious issues which continue to plague the extreme music genres.

Venom Prison would like to stress that everyone is entitled to a fair trial – via the appropriate legal channels, not just via social media – and Decapitated remain respected musicians until proven otherwise. In addition, we would state that the burden of proof in any criminal matter, at least in the UK, is that of beyond all reasonable doubt, that 99% what is alleged to have happened did happen. On that basis, until an individual is convicted, we are not in a position to comment on the present allegations.

It is imperative that we state that we don’t believe these things ‘just happen’, so regardless as to the extent of the allegations, inevitably situations such as the one Decapitated have found themselves in, more often do than don’t involve some degree of inappropriate behaviour.

As above, we have not made any effort to hide our views on what we see as an issue that is becoming more and more visible, an unfortunate ugliness that continues to spread. On that basis, we apologise to anyone who has already purchased tickets specifically to see Venom Prison, and whilst we would ask that you reserve your judgment, Venom Prison will not be performing at the scheduled dates.

Furthermore, we have opted to donate £200 to Rape Crisis England & Wales. We hope that you will continue to raise awareness to issues such as rape and sexual assault, in music and anywhere, we must continue to take a stand and as long as Venom Prison is a band, we will continue to resist censorship and make our feelings known.

We thank you for your continued support.

How to react at first when a sexual assault allegation hits the scene

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 1:52 PM (PST)

TW: Sexual assault, scene idiot fans.

So, I have been a Decapitated fan for years and was really looking forward to covering their NYC show next week. I was on the guest list and have several of their records and was stoked. Do you think that my primary concern upon hearing that the band are accused of gang rape is that I hope it is not true and their career is not maligned? No.

If your first response upon hearing a fan say they were assaulted is to automatically discount them because you like the art of someone who is also human and capable of being very flawed or massively fucking up as many humans throughout history have proven (trust me – some VERY popular bands are major liars), if your first response is to knee jerk call the accuser a slut or groupie or liar, if your first response is to go buy merch from the band to prove you believe in them no matter what (see As I Lay Dying fans after Tim’s arrest), perhaps your priorities are super fucked up? Yes.

Decapitated release “Never” from next album

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:41 AM (PST)

Decapitated remain one of the most important bands in extreme metal, a death metal consortium of the truest order. New song “Never” has an intro that gives me some of the more moody Carnival Is Forever vibes before a more old school attack begins. The new album is called Anticult and I for one am sure as hell excited. That solo section and the three minute or so almost hardcore breakdown riff are the fucking bomb. God, I love this band.

Decapitated and Metal Hammer have a full album stream of the band’s new album, Blood Mantra, which will hit streets on September 30 in North America. This Decapitated line-up is so nasty. Just listen to opener “Exiled In Flesh” and try not to have the complete essence of heavy metal course through your blood. This is power.

Plenty to please fans of the weird detours on the excellent and bold Carnival Is Forever , the new one will please older fans of their more brutal side as well as anyone looking for a metal route to take after Gorgut’s Colored Sands. You can even hear them cut loose a bit and just plain rock on adrenal-stomper “Veins”. I can see that decimating just about any crowd. Grab this. An ESSENTIAL release for the Fall. Poland has struck a vein of molten gold thrice this year with Vader, Decapitated and Behemoth.

Lyle Cooper leaves The Faceless

Posted by jessepac on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 9:47 PM (PST)

Lyle Cooper The FacelessThe Faceless are now drumless, as sticksmith Lyle Cooper has announced his departure. The band is currently playing a small United Kingdom tour and will hopefully find a replacement before their slot on the upcoming Cradle of Filth, Decapitated, and The Agonist run in the United States.

Here is what Cooper had to say about the situation:

“Over the last couple of years it seemed that the interests, goals and musical approach of the band was not that of my own. Also, managerial issues became too frequent with no resolution. These issues, I felt, made it hard for me as an individual to produce as a creative and enthusiastic member.”

The band is still touring in support of Autotheism, which came out last year on Sumerian Records.

Decapitated part ways with drummer, announce replacement

Posted by Metal Dude on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 7:37 PM (PST)

Decapitated have announced the departure of their drummer Kerim Lechner, who joined the band when they reunited in 2009, replacing the late Witold “Vitek” Kiełtyka. Lechner released the following statement in regards to his decision to leave the band:

Too many personal differences and other difficulties made me decide like this. I appreciate the good times we had together and what we could achieve in more than two and a half years. Even if our ways are dividing, I wish the band to keep going. However, it’s time for me to move on.

I don’t know what will be next, but I would like to stay in this business. I love to write and play music for you guys. This is my life and this is what I want to continue.”

Vader drummer Pawel Jaroszewicz has reportedly been tapped as Lechner’s replacement.

“It was great to record this video in Kraków with our good friends. Great atmosphere + good mood + hours of moshing equals cool video clip! I really like the song. It’s a straight-punch-to-the-face, that’s why it works in black and white. There are no colorful stories inside, no bullshit – just mosh!!!”
