UK underground buzz band Nihility have been causing a stir with their bludgeoning blend of styles. The influences range from the death metal side of early Death, Suffocation and Dead Congregation through to metallic hardcore bands such as Kickback, All Out War and others of that ilk. They are heavy enough to please Xibalba fans but also have the DM edge you've been missing since long before Earache stopped carrying that torch in favor of Danny Worsnop's country album, haha. A statement from Nihility: We'll be releasing our first full length record (title and label TBA) some time towards the middle of this year. It will consist of nine new tracks that we consider to be our most concise and aggressive material to date.We have a summer tour booked that we're really excited to announce shortly and hope to finally visit Europe some time towards the end of this year as well. If you crave some real deal shit in the meantime check out their highly recommended Consumed EP and kick some lamps in your apartment, just don't scare your cat. At the end of the day Killswitch Engage are on top because regardless of whoever is at the mic the band simply have better songs than most of their peers. New tune “Cut Me Loose” continues this tradition with some awesome performances and varied sounds from the whole band.
One thing that is cool about Incarnate‘s tracks we have heard so far is that it doesn’t sound like the band tried to make Disarm The Descent or Alive And Just Breathing pt. 2 with Jesse. That would be a mistake as those records are great on their own.
Still, the new stuff fits well within KSE’s very well established vibe.
There is even a beautiful reservoir shot at the end that looks like where I grew up in Upstate, NY and kind of sets a tone for holding strength when set against the raging near deathcore heavy hardcore clang of the end riff.Add to My Radar
“Hate By Design” is here with a great lyrical message for the whole world/scene.

Killswitch Engage are back with a beefier sounding new track, a strong new single called “Strength Of The Mind”. The song stands out well from recent material while still having a place in the core sound. There is a very heavy bridge that old school fans wike like, a pretty heavy vocal performance and some killer guitar runs. All in all, this song grooves hard. Though I’m not as in love with it as some of the standout stuff on Disarm The Descent, I think it will grow and has that certain throwback, early 00′s vibe.Add to My Radar
Your favorite mostly PMA metalcore band and mine Killswitch Engage are always miles ahead of most of the pack, and new song “Strength In Mind” has one hell of a grooving riff. The band performed the new tune at a Toronto stop, some of the only new material since Disarm The Descent we’ve heard with the exception of the rad Game Of Thrones track “Loyalty”.
Jesse Leach remains one of the most chill and inspiring frontmen and it is cool as hell to also hear him admit in this video that the Red Sox blow.

Jesse Leach of KSE keeps that PMA and got fans pumped today with a preview of new Killswitch. The lords of Metacore are part of a new Game Of Thrones mix and wrote a song for House Martell from the show and books, the southern kingdom of intrigue. You can hear the preview HERE. It features the house motto of “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” in the chorus, which honestly sound like KSE lyrics already, haha. I am huge Killswitch fan and it sounds good, though The Sword still get most points for their GoT song from Gods Of The Earth about taking the black from before HBO even had a hit.

Metalcore’s true kings Killswitch Engage tore through the Halloween weekend with several shows including a stop at Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park, NY. The intimate venue is a sick room to see a band who can fill and fire up much larger venues. Photogs Matt Slater and Richie Bilyou caught some of the action amidst a killer set of songs from the band’s whole career plus a Misfits cover (“Halloween”, of course). I swear that every time I put on Disarm The Descent the world seems a lot more manageable. That album is colossal. And Jesse, nice PMA on the t-shirt, buddy? Lmao.

Bullet Tooth is excited to announce the 3x CD Discography Only Death Is Smiling from Massachusetts’ metal legends OVERCAST! The band started in the early 90s long before the explosion of metal from the New England area, and released a few albums on indie labels until the late 90s when they broke up to focus on new bands like SHADOWS FALL and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, and more recently, DEATH RAY VISION. As a lot of their titles are currently out of print, the band decided to release “Only Death Is Smiling” on Bullet Tooth featuring 45 tracks on 3 separate CDs, scheduled for release late 2014.
To say that OVERCAST were legendary is fairly accurate, as most newer metal bands have paid tribute to the obvious influences in their music. In fact, some give OVERCAST credit for starting the massive sub-genre called METALCORE. Their recent performance at This Is Hardcore in Philadelphia sent hundreds of metal and hardcore fans into a frenzy with their brutal and technical metal written with the dance floor in mind.

American thrash titans, BATTLECROSS, are pleased to confirm three tour dates this August in Brazil with Killswitch Engage and Memphis May Fire. This will mark the band’s first-ever shows in South America.
Comments guitarist Tony Asta: “BATTLECROSS is primed and ready to explore the unknown and take on South America with the mighty Killswitch Engage and Memphis May Fire! This will be our first time ever performing in this part of the world where a strong legacy of thrash metal has created a culture of the most devoted metal heads in the planet. BATTLECROSS took their energetic live show for the first time ever to Europe earlier this year supporting Killswitch Engage and Trivium. BATTLECROSS will also play a series of US shows (also with Killswitch Engage and Trivium) next month.

King Buzzo at House of Vans NYC by J.M.
2013 was a great year for music. I can’t recall a year in recent memory where I was so torn between so many great releases for my year end “list”. From Tidal Arms to Across Tundras to Ephel Duath to Nails, so many great bands just killed it. Other band greats tried to kill people as well. It was certainly a year for upheaval in the metal world, with scandals from the camps of As I Lay Dying to Nachtmystium to the horribly wrong Lost Prophets saga (you sick fucker, you are a shame to humanity and especially the Welsh, my heritage) upsetting the general public. As I Lay Dying is a real drag since The Powerless Rise is a fucking great album. But on the bright side it was a killer touring year, many albums that will be loved for years came out and heavy music is strong as ever-if not more. And if nothing today suits your fancy or makes you want to say Hail to the King, crank the Dave Grohl mixed B’last record Blood! for an old school slap in the face back to reality!
From my “best of” top pick Killswitch Engage‘s Disarm The Descent to Gorguts’ Colored Sands to Ghost invading the mainstream as the new nameless faces of metal to Corrections House shockingly cold Last City Zero, there was so much to inspire. So horns up, y’all. Here is an array of my thoughts plus year end reflections from members of Mares of Thrace, Storm King, Candiria, Landmine Marathon and more! Also I’ve got some exclusive 2013 live pics of Emmure, Filter, Melvins, For Today and more!

The beginning of the week saw Killswitch Engage premiere a brand new video for their latest single, “Always.” The single is taken from last April’s Disarm the Descent, released on Roadrunner Records. The video sees the band experimenting with a narrative form as none of the members appear in the video. Instead, the plot revolves around the relationship between two brothers.

Trivium frontman Matt Heafy said, “There is no question that Killswitch Engage is one of the most influential bands of the last decade. It is an honor to be able to tour with one of our personal favorite bands across one of my favorite places on Earth: the UK!”
Joel Stroetzel, guitarist for Killswitch Engage, commented, “We’re all very excited for the upcoming tour with Trivium! The UK has been a favorite place to play for both bands over the years, so joining forces should make for some great shows! Very psyched!”

Massachusetts metalcore veterans, Killswitch Engage will be playing a special show in NYC this Saturday night, October 12, at Santos Party House. They will be performing as part of the second annual CBGB Festival, with openers, Eye Ra Haze. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning, Tuesday, October 8, at 10AM ET. They can be bought through Ticket Web for $25. “I am excited to be a part of the CBGB fest,” proclaims vocalist Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage. “The music that came out of the early punk and hardcore scene changed my life and CBGBs was a big part of that scene. Playing a smaller intimate venue like Santos Party House gives us a chance to change stuff up and give fans a different KsE show with a diversified set list. Saturday will be a night to remember!”
