Welcome to Metal Riot’s Cover Art Battle! Every week we try and show the best-of-the-best in metal cover art, ranging from the fantastically illustrated to hauntingly photographed and everything in between.

Another week, more album cover art to discover. New bands. Tenured bands. Enough shenanigans. Time for you to go and vote.

That is all.

Master announce new album “The New Elite”

Posted by jessepac on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 1:37 PM (PST)

master band photoAfter 2010’s The Human Machine, Master has been in high demand to put out another album and today the band has announced The New Elite as their follow-up. Featuring “11 tracks of unambiguous death metal in its wretched form, in perfect coalition with the offensive Paul Speckmann-spewed lyrical shitstorm,” the album brings many political issues to light when Pulverised Records releases it later this year.

Commented mainman Paul Speckmann: “The rich are getting richer and the poor are starving on the streets all around the world while men battle each other for world dominance! Governments are grabbing the world by the balls and dictating the new rules of the soon-to-be New Elite, while the youth of today just sit down and take it. I really wonder if and when the youth of today will take a stand against these crazy fucked-up ruthless world leaders.”

Master Forced to Cancel Headlining Tour

Posted by Christine on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 3:31 AM (PST)

Master, who were scheduled to kick off their U.S. headlining tour earlier this week with support from Lightning Swords Of Death and Mobile Deathcamp, were denied entry into the country and forced to return to the Czech Republic.

Said Master mainman Paul Speckmann in a statement: “We arrived Tuesday morning in Holland and after intense questioning we proceeded to the eye and body scan machine. Along with the other passengers, we proceeded to the plane. We arrived in Detroit and went to passport control. I waited for about two hours for any word on the guys. The police came to explain that the visa waiver program didn’t apply to musicians. So they sent me to customs and proceeded to tear apart everything and sent me on my way. I waited for six hours to get on another airplane and return to Europe. Thankfully the lady at the Delta checkout counter was very helpful and confirmed that the guys would be on the next plane in the evening and I could return with them. The guys were escorted to the plane by four police officers and returned their passports when we arrived in Amsterdam. Since when are musicians and terrorists in the same category? Again I apologize to all the bands, organizers and fans of course. I guess the CD cover of “The Human Machine” CD has become a reality!”

Master released their tenth studio album, “The Human Machine”, last May via Singapore’s Pulverised Records.

Lightning Swords of Death U.S. Tour 2011 Announced

Posted by Christine on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 12:19 PM (PST)

Lightning Swords of DeathLos Angeles black metallers Lightning Swords of Death are preparing to embark on a month-long U.S. tour supporting Czech Republic-by-way-of-Chicago death metal legends Master. The band will join the tour on March 4 in Brooklyn, New York. The tour will also be joined by Ohio thrashers Mobile Deathcamp on select dates.

Commented vocalist Autarch of the journey: “This is a pilgrimage reaching many places in our own country we have yet to poison with our gospel. We shall bring them the great gnosis of kaos, death and ecstasy. We will teach them to strangle the mundane with intestines of the apathetic.”

Lightning Swords of Death will be touring in support of “The Extra Dimensional Wound”, their second full-length, released via Metal Blade Records last year.
