We write for what we think is right. I have to believe in myself and the songs and music that I do. I have to live with that shit forever...I [could] try to do Colony II, but that wouldn’t be right, either. That album was true to who I was for that time and who we were then. I wouldn’t change a thing, you know? For us, it’s always been about taking everything we’ve done with us, but embracing the future. Using what we have right now. – Anders

In Flames ought to be as legendary as an alternative metal band with prog-leanings as they are for their early  melodic death metal. It is idiotic. Siren Charms is one of their best , truly layered albums and is RIYL anything from System Of A Down to Black Crown Initiate to Opeth to, of course, In Flames. No one does it quite their way and if you have an open mind and can appreciate the band as a whole and not within a box of a few certain years, the rewards are many.

Check out this exclusive footage of metal champions In Flames talking about the creation of the new album Siren Charms, which premiered on Loudwire. Enjoy!

This is my favorite material from the band since the early days! Siren Charms will entice you in and make you question yourself. I sincerely hope and pray that this music can be a guiding force for people to bridge different styles and limitations that hold us back in the metal scene and world.

The album is out September 9.

Lamb of God returned to Manhattan this past Friday with special guests, In Flames, Sylosis, and – appearing only on the first two dates of the tour – Hatebreed (Hell Yeah replaces Hatebreed for the remainder of the tour.) This would actually have been Lamb of God’s second NYC show, but, due to singer Randy Blythe’s incarceration earlier this year in Prague, their first tour with Dethklok and Gojira, as well as the Mayhem Cruise, which they had been set to headline, was canceled.

Metalheads everywhere were eager for the chance to see Blythe back onstage where he belongs, and on November 16th 2012, it all went down at The Big Apple’s infamous Roseland Ballroom.

In Flames to begin work on new album next year

Posted by Metal Dude on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 7:11 AM (PST)

Two weeks ago, at the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, In Flames frontman Anders Fridén revealed that there is a new album in the works and they intend to “start thinking about” recording it next year. Here’s what he had to say:

“We’ll probably continue touring for whole next year, and then we’re gonna think about what we’re gonna do. I mean, we already have some stuff in our heads, but the actual writing process is something that we do when we get off the road; we need to focus on that. The thing is that you have so much [free] time, really, when you’re on the road, but we can’t focus; I don’t know what it is with us. There’s so many distractions around you. I’d rather go out and have good food and good beer than sit by a computer and record. I do have my own stuff with me — I have a Pro Tools rig, I have a small, little keyboard where I can play… I do that. And I write, basically, for myself, just to keep sane. But, actually, In Flames, musically, we need to relax a little bit and then start thinking about it”

The video from the interview can be watched at this location.

In Flames latest record Sounds of a Playground Fading came out in June of last year on Century Media.

Show Review: In Flames – Milwaukee, WI – 01.12.12

Posted by JDKleinhans on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 9:16 PM (PST)

Neither snow nor rain nor cold nor gloom of night stays this metalhead from the listening of sweet, sweet shredding of this mighty lineup. This Midwest winter has been a paltry one but on this night, the opening night of the In Flames 2012 North American tour, the Swedes brought the first real winter storm of the season. Coincidence? I think not. It was a sign and I wasn’t going to let bitter wind and a few inches of snow keep me from getting to this show.

Check to see if it was worth the risk right here. (and there’s pictures!)
