Blues punks The Bobby Lees (Sam Quartin , Kendall Wind , Macky Bowman, Nick Casa) have been tearing it up on stages in Upstate, NY and around the country. While you may recognize Quartin from movie roles like the (forthcoming) Run With The Hunted and Let Me Make You A Martyr , this band is not a novelty project but a full fledged rock n rollercoaster. They totally scorch the stage with a howling sense of purpose and poetic sting, capturing a primal and at times even fun energy on Beauty Pageant . Feral animals and ghosts hiding in the trees agree that this band is the shit. This record and group truly deserve to be heard, so head to their Bandcamp and blast "Deem Em Dead" now. You can say you knew 'em when.

Black Label Society fans ought to be pleased with the news that Zakk Wylde is doing an Unblackened U.S. tour with doom legend and acoustic riff elder Wino from Saint Vitus/Spirit Caravan in tow. Nice to see Wino is back in action after his recent arrest. He is great on acoustic and is reportedly working with Conny Ochs again soon. Back to Zakk, Black Label Society will be offering audiences a more intimate show. Along with BLS music, the setlist is expected to include material from Wylde’s solo disc, Book Of Shadows as well as material from his southern rock band Pride & Glory.
“You can take a song that you’ve played thousands of times and rearrange it, and all of a sudden it’s something totally fresh,” says Wylde. “The attitude of the songs doesn’t change when we play them acoustically — the tunes are gritty regardless.”

Decibel issued a statement from doom legend Wino today about his recent Norway arrest for meth while SaintVitus was touring with Orange Goblin. Every time I have spoken to Wino he has been a class act dude and obviously is a musical cornerstone of all that is good in doom metal, not to mention it sucks to see a human being of any stripes struggle with drug abuse.
“At this time, I feel it is necessary to release an official statement of the facts in regard to my recent deportation from the country of Norway. First, I want to apologize to all Saint Vitus fans, and to my band members and crew for my lapse in judgment that ultimately resulted in me missing the last six shows on our Born Too Late 35th anniversary European tour.

Orange Goblin are one of the best live bands in the world, and their recorded output is just as nasty. That said, US fans are not as familiar with their incredible Healing Through Fire album. The utterly brilliant stomp of “They Come Back (Harvest of Skulls)” or the monumental tasteful guitar ugliness of memorable onslaught riffer “Cities of Frost” make this one of the very best Goblin releases, delivered with uncanny British sludge rock n roll insanity. The Goblin are just hard to top. I had to quit drinking after seeing them last time in NYC, where I bashed my head open headbanging wasted into a stage monitor. I have a scar on my forehead, but it was super worth it.
While fans await the new album, Candlelight is set to reissue the misisng piece from the band’s stateside catalog. Originally released in 2007, the Mark Daghorn produced Healing Through Fire was issued via Sanctuary Records. The album closed a 3 year recording gap for the band (previous album Thieving From The House of God released 2004 via Rise Above Records) and would be the only album the quartet would release for Sanctuary.
“Hot Knives and Open Sores” is the epitome of bitchin good stoner blues rock with feel, guts and intensity. These guys just don’t let up and this album is so amazing.
