Interview: Garin Rosen of Arsonists Get All The Girls

“Everyone else is trying to get on some marketable bullshit. Arsonists is only going to get more fucked up.” – Garin Rosen

Arsonists Get All The Girls is a band that can actually fulfill a crowd funding campaign. Twice. After four albums with Century Media, they went out on their own and haven’t looked back. Founding drummer Garin Rosen hit me with a solid dose of what exactly went into and came out of their overly successfully crowd sourced album they released last year. They also scored a new van back in March, thanks to a still loyal fanbase. Before the funding, their future was unclear and had this album not been funded, we might not have these nutjobs out on the road in a new van toting a sporadically vicious new album, Listen to the Color.

They are currently charging the batteries before heading out on a tour in the west. Check out a review from a previous show here. Tour dates are below, as well as the interview here.

This line up did not fuck around. Each band hit the minuscule stage and went straight for the neck. Seven bands, both local and national, absolutely lit the room up, each with their own unequivocal performance and flair. Santa Cruz, California’s Arsonists Get All The Girls helmed this massive tour, with The Last Ten Seconds of Life, Beyond The Shore, MetalRiot.com homies Seeker, and Your Chance to Die opening the show. Refuge and Airismine ran the local New York City support, bringing with them a slew of fans to flood the intimate Club Europa in Brooklyn, New York.

How many of you Metal Rioters out there have gone to your local record store of choice and picked up a new metal album solely based on the art that graces its cover? I have found many a hidden gems and a few utter disappointments but there are few things greater in this world than gently cracking open the liner notes for the first time as the smell of ink and paper washes over you.

In the world of iTunes and Pandora, the art form that is the album cover is slowly dying. But we’re here to remind  you that in the world of heavy metal, the art of the album cover is alive and well! So each Tuesday we’ll present to you the best album covers of the week to declare what we all already know – Heavy Metal is art.

So welcome to another episode of: KICK ASS ALBUM COVERS OF THE WEEK!!! (insert blistering guitar shred here). Novembers Doom “Aphotic” (The End Records) dominated with 60% of the vote. The Gates of Slumber “The Wretch” (Rise Above Records) had a nice surge at the end to go from 11% to 27% over the weekend but alas, they just couldn’t quite catch up. So, congratulations to Novembers Doom and stay tuned for their return for May’s Cover of the Month voting in just a few short weeks.

But that’s so last week! Go and check out this week’s Top Five right here.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? GO! VOTE!
