It was December 24th, in the tragic year of 1914, in the middle of a cold night. After six months in the muddy trenches, World War 1 still hadn’t come to an end on Christmas Eve; the soldiers were missing home even more than on any other day and started quietly singing carols. Although an official truce was declined from the governments, an eerie silence haunted the empty battlefields on the morning of December 25th. That was when the British and German soldiers slowly crawled out of their trenches to wish each other a Merry Christmas, take photographs, play games, and even exchange a few gifts.

In this animated story video, SABATON depicts this remarkable event that would come to be known as the “Christmas Truce.” This brand new video was unveiled during the band’s ongoing Christmas Advent Calendar on their social media channels and website.

Watch the new “Christmas Truce” video below!

“This is the story of the ‘Christmas Truce,’ and this is why we wrote our latest single,” said Sabaton bassist Pär Sundström. “We now give you a different way of experiencing our music and the history behind it.”

The “Christmas Truce” video was produced by Yarnhub, who also created the animated story videos for Sabaton’s “No Bullets Fly” and “Night Witches.”

A new edit of the “Christmas Truce” single is now available on all streaming platforms. You can listen to it here:

Judas Priest , icons of true metal, have announced a 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour for frothing metal fanatics who still crave the band’s molten and particular sound. Halford is still capable of ruling the stage and the band’s recent Firepower was masterful evidence that they still can startle with the power of even new material. I am certainly supporting this over KK’s Priest silliness. No Offense to KK but fuck Ripper…he’s consistently said lots of dumb sexist right wingy shit and after I argued with him about degrading Stormy Daniels in super trashy ways and sex workers in general I will never support any records he is on again. And I once upon a time LOVED his Iced Earth-era  (sorry but he never matched Rob in Priest…that’s a fucking Joke).

Anyway, back to positivity…

Judas Priest will be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with a world tour coming to the US in the fall. The 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour will also feature fucking Sabaton as openers! How sick is that?!!  It is being fueled by the indeed highest charting album of Priest’s career Firepower which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200.

“Judas Priest are primed and ready to deliver the goods with our 50 Heavy Metal Years anniversary celebration stage show spectacular! Performing a blistering cross section of songs from our lives in metal – we can’t wait to raise horns with you again at this once in a metal lifetime event!” – Judas Priest

Welcome to Metal Riot’s Cover Art Battle! Every week we try and show the best-of-the-best in metal cover art, ranging from the fantastically illustrated to hauntingly photographed and everything in between.

I know I say it every week, but damn… what another phenomenal week of cover art. As I prepare each week’s battle, I usually know what cover I’m going to vote for by the time I post it. I don’t think that’s going to happen this week. To see what I’m talking about head on over here and get voting. Spread the good word.
