Orange Goblin are plundering North America again , this time with anti-heroes Down, the sludge lords from NOLA. This tour is sure to do Crom proud as barbaric riffery and doob smoke will rise from cracks in the Earth formed from massive chords, thumping toms and brain fuzzing solos. The hard rock gnosis of “The Devil’s Whip” will sear your rear with flame trails akin to old school Motorhead with a stoner rock meets English pub glow. Hardcore legends Bl’ast and firecrackers King Parrot are on this sucker as well, ragers.

Wino apologizes to Saint Vitus fans for Norway arrest, seeks treatment

Decibel issued a statement from doom legend Wino today about his recent Norway arrest for meth while  SaintVitus was touring with Orange Goblin. Every time I have spoken to Wino he has been a class act dude and obviously is a musical cornerstone of all that is good in doom metal, not to mention it sucks to see a human being of any stripes struggle with drug abuse.

“At this time, I feel it is necessary to release an official statement of the facts in regard to my recent deportation from the country of Norway. First, I want to apologize to all Saint Vitus fans, and to my band members and crew for my lapse in judgment that ultimately resulted in me missing the last six shows on our Born Too Late 35th anniversary European tour.

Read the full statement HERE and watch a video I shoved in there of Wino ripping up “Iron Horse” by Motorhead on acoustic.

Music is an art form and it should be enjoyed and used as a pressure valve by those that create it. – Ben

The UK’s kings of apocalyptic party doom are back. Orange Goblin, one of the best live acts on terra firma, will release Back From The Abyss via Candlelight Records on Oct. 7th in North America. The album art kind of has a vibe similar to fellow Brit’s Iron Maiden’s The Final Frontier album, without Predator-Eddie looming over a skull this time.

Recorded earlier this year in London, the album reunites the band with producer Jamie Dodd. It was mastered at Turan Audio in late July. Back From The Abyss will be available for preorder via iTunes and Amazon beginning August 26th. Fans can begin to preorder the CD today via Candlelight’s official webstore and Bandcamp page.

Loudwire.com is celebrating the announcement with an exclusive North American stream of the album’s first single, “The Devil’s Whip.” Vocalist Ben Ward says, “This song is a real old-school banger stuffed full of riffs, sleaze, filth, and speed… just like the best metal should be! It’s Motörhead-style, outlaw-biker rock in all its glory, destined to get heads banging, fists pumping, drinks flowing and asses shaking. If you don’t find yourself breaking the speed limit to this song, desperate to find the roughest bar in town, start a fight and spending the night in a cell, then you are quite clearly already dead. Let’s ride, let loose, let’s rip… that’s right, you can’t escape ‘The Devil’s Whip.'”

Check the tune out, in all it’s fuzzy glory, right HERE.

Orange Goblin are one of the best live bands in the world, and their recorded output is just as nasty. That said, US fans are not as familiar with their incredible Healing Through Fire album. The utterly brilliant stomp of “They Come Back (Harvest of Skulls)” or the monumental tasteful guitar ugliness of memorable onslaught riffer “Cities of Frost” make this one of the very best Goblin releases, delivered with uncanny British sludge rock n roll insanity. The Goblin are just hard to top. I had to quit drinking after seeing them last time in NYC, where I bashed my head open headbanging wasted into a stage monitor. I have a scar on my forehead, but it was super worth it.

While fans await the new album, Candlelight is set to reissue the misisng piece from the band’s stateside catalog.  Originally released in 2007, the Mark Daghorn produced Healing Through Fire was issued via Sanctuary Records. The album closed a 3 year recording gap for the band (previous album Thieving From The House of God released 2004 via Rise Above Records) and would be the only album the quartet would release for Sanctuary.

“Hot Knives and Open Sores” is the epitome of bitchin good stoner blues rock with feel, guts and intensity. These guys just don’t let up and this album is so amazing.

Band Spotlight: Orange Goblin

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 4:21 PM (PST)

599346_502865936443991_445892684_nOrange Goblin are pure rock n’ roll… feared, respected and mentioned in whispers by awed rock fans and youngsters across the world. Orange Goblin are the modern UK metal heroes who never give up and always keep kicking ass. Back with their first live album, the pants-seat scorching A EULOGY FOR THE FANS (Candlelight), “The Goblin” just get better with age. Seriously, could this band be any more awesome? I think not.
