In quite exciting news, pro drummer Nick Augusto (ex-Trivium) has joined the ranks of the much smaller but way cooler Orbweaver. Hey, I like me some Trivium but if they let Augusto go it’s their loss. Nick’s ability to tightly execute harder parts or just get down and dirty will fit in well with the sort of loose yet spastic death metal style of the very out there Orbweaver. I can’t wait to hear Nick play “Crystal Prisms” in particular. This is gonna rule.
Comments Augusto of enlisting with this heady band, “I’m happy to have been asked to be a part ORBWEAVER. We have all played shows with each other’s bands in the past and have been friends in this scene for quite some time now. I’ve jammed with [guitarist/vocalist] Randy [Piro] before, so the timing was right when we got a hold of each other to join forces and write new material. Looking forward to what this new CD and the future holds for ORBWEAVER!”
Hexagram 23 is the working title of ORBWEAVER’s forthcoming anticipated full-length. The record follows the band’s critically-adored debut EP, Strange Transmissions From The Neuralnomicon, which Terrorizer Magazine dubbed, “a surreal and thoroughly absorbing journey that is equal parts psychedelic, brutal and intricate.”
Seriously, it’s crazy shit fans of everything from Gigan to Psyopus to classic death metal ala Morbid Angel can enjoy on some level. Fucking horns.Add to My Radar
Trivium frontman Matt Heafy said, “There is no question that Killswitch Engage is one of the most influential bands of the last decade. It is an honor to be able to tour with one of our personal favorite bands across one of my favorite places on Earth: the UK!”
Joel Stroetzel, guitarist for Killswitch Engage, commented, “We’re all very excited for the upcoming tour with Trivium! The UK has been a favorite place to play for both bands over the years, so joining forces should make for some great shows! Very psyched!”

Florida thrashers Trivium have announced that their follow-up to 2011’s In Waves will be called Vengeance Falls, and it’s out October 15th.

Producer Draiman added, “Vengeance Falls is a masterpiece of metal. It is their finest work to date, and a record so strong that it will blow the doors open to a world they deserve to dominate.” That’s some high praise to live up to.

5. To Believe
6. At the End of This War

DevilDriver will be touring in support of their new album Winter Kills which will come out on August 27 via Napalm Records.
DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara had this to say about the tour:
“It’s been almost a year since DEVILDRIVER have toured the US. I am Stoked to finally be getting the chance to go back out and hit the road with ‘The Groove Machine’! This tour will be a mixture of DEVILDRIVER favorites and a bunch of new stuff off of our new record Winter Kills. I cannot wait for the record to come out and to get back to what we do best, play live. Touring with our friends in Trivium, After the Burial and Sylosis is just the fucking bonus! Come on out for a great night of metal, get ready to get down and dirty, see you in the pit!”

San Diego metalcore act As I Lay Dying have announced a fall 2012 UK club tour with Trivium, Caliban, and Upon A Burning Body. This will hopefully be to support AILD’s upcoming album which is due out on Metal Blade sometime in the second half of 2012. It will be a follow up to 2010’s The Powerless Rise, and unfortunately we don’t know much about it but they are supposedly wrapping up production as I write this.

As I Lat Dying singer Tim Lambesis commented on the tour:
“It’s not very often that a lineup like this works out for a club tour. I can’t wait to get on stage knowing the crowds will be pumped getting a great show from start to finish. That coupled with being on the road with our friends in Trivium again gives me plenty to look forward too.”Add to My Radar

Neither snow nor rain nor cold nor gloom of night stays this metalhead from the listening of sweet, sweet shredding of this mighty lineup. This Midwest winter has been a paltry one but on this night, the opening night of the In Flames 2012 North American tour, the Swedes brought the first real winter storm of the season. Coincidence? I think not. It was a sign and I wasn’t going to let bitter wind and a few inches of snow keep me from getting to this show.

Gold are really good. You should listen to them. I classified them in our power metal category only because if Gold played power metal that would actually maybe be the weirdest experimental music ever and very rad. They DO play their own awesome kind of music, which is different than what many bands are doing. Optimist has some sweet jams. "White Noise" has a great intro. Prepare to be melted in a metallic wash of BM, post-rock and plaintive melodic musings.
