TERA WRAY STATIC: RESPONSE TO THE FANS AND FRIENDS

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 5:37 AM (PST)

HOLLYWOOD, CA (November 4, 2014) – The following is an additional response from Tera Wray Static to friends and fans that care about Wayne, as well as posts from Wayne’s peers that are negatively speculating on his cause of death.

“Today is my husband’s birthday and instead of celebrating his 49th year of life, we are grieving his short 48 years. It has come to my attention that many have questions and opinions about the cause of the death of my husband in which I now find is necessary to further respond.

Wayne was not taking drugs, if anything he was a drinker, and did not OD. The autopsy will be done by this weekend at the soonest, however for some of the test results it will take up to 6 months to get the actual death certificate finalized. I hope that the results I am given will have some insight, but they told me what I will receive this weekend will be deemed incomplete until all tests are back.

We can all have opinions as to why – We all know that both Wayne and I had abused narcotics with alcohol in the past, which I am sure took a toll on his body, heart and soul. We were packing to travel on tour and were to leave that night, but it was Halloween and we decided to leave in the morning with our animals. I wish we had traveled that night then maybe had he fallen ill we could have gotten to the hospital. I will never know.

I find it disrespectful to our families and myself for negative spins that are being posted. For Wayne’s music peers to take it upon themselves to make comment about us, when they are not part of our daily lives or know us outside of tour and music, just to grab a headline to get themselves at the top of the gossip page is disgusting. This is not about you or what you feel is your expert opinion on people you have no relationship with, so shame on you – Do not act like we liked your band either. Wayne was a good soul and he is gone – That is what we do know. Please show some respect to him and his memory – We thank all that have left kind and positive messages in support of this terrible time – I am sure Wayne misses you too” …… Tera Wray Static.

R.I.P. Wayne Static

Platinum selling musician Wayne Richard Wells, better known as WAYNE STATIC, passed away at the age of 48.

WAYNE STATIC was the enigmatic former frontman and namesake of Static-X, who later forged a successful solo career. Wayne was scheduled to co-headline tours with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool over the next several months.

No additional information is available at this time.

Blabbermouth has a moving tribute from fellow musicians in the hard rock community here , including members of Smashing Pumpkins, Fear Factory and Lacuna Coil.

UPDATE: (this just in…)

Today is a sad day in the music industry – Front-man and founding member WAYNE STATIC of STATIC-X passed away quietly in his sleep at his home last night.

The couple was getting ready to leave for a Fall/Winter tour this morning. They were to have left the night before on Halloween, but decided they would head out early in the morning November 1st.

The couple, known for partying heavy, had left hard drugs in 2009 and had not touched them since. Static’s first solo album – Pighammer – was a tribute to his new non-drug life and hoped it would help others to get clean from hard chemical drugs.

More official information about his passing will be released in the following days. This is not a drug related incident or an O. D. Please be courteous to his family and wife and leave positive messages~

Haters wanna hate on Otep Shamaya but I think she rules and still always brings it live. Gotta love an artist who keeps fighting progressive battles. Otep caught some heat recently for daring to tweet that perhaps her lack of inclusion on Mayhem Fest‘s 2014 Victory Stage was due to corporate sponsorship homophobia, a speculation she frankly caught too much flak for. Fact is, websites did jump on it and blow it out of proportion. Speculation is not full accusation. It is certainly reasonable that Shamaya hypothesized and then discussed the situation with people from Mayhem. It is easy to be snarky about shit when you haven’t faced discrimination for your sexuality. Does it make people paranoid sometimes? Maybe, but that isn’t reason to crucify them on metal sites. In my book, Otep has huge “balls” and kudos to her for staying outspoken.

Anyway, real fans can catch Ms. Otep live on the Civil Unrest tour with Dope, Smile Empty Soul and more.
