Rivals Sons confirm shows with Guns N’ Roses

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 12:26 PM (PST)

Rivals Sons have confirmed that they will be the main support act for Guns N’ Roses for two shows in Europe this coming summer.

The band will be opening for Guns N’ Roses on June 4th at Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and then at the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Mönchengladbach, Germany on June 8th.

Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday had these comments to make:

“What a great, great opportunity to get these shows supporting Guns N’ Roses! Germany has been great to us, and this will only help us reach out to so many more people over there. As far as Guns goes… I remember the first time those guys were ever on MTV, me and my best mate were watching. A total shock to the system, and to me and my friends’ lives. We were really young little dudes, but we already loved our rock ‘n’ roll, and Guns just reeked of reality and grit… I mean they were literally very dirty. And we LOVED it. They ushered in a lot more ‘real’ and dirtiness to a scene that had become way too fruity-pants. As a wee guitar-playing lad, I couldn’t get enough of Appetite For Destruction and Lies. Ready to see and hear some of those first tunes played live!”

Music Video: Rival Sons- “Face of Light”

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1:38 PM (PST)

Rival Sons have released a video for their song “Face of Light.”

Vocalist Jay Buchanan had these comments:

“I am happy to say that our record ‘Pressure & Time’ is about to give us our third single with the song ‘Face of Light’. This is a very special song to us and I am delighted to put out a single with a positive message that can still break a tooth. Three singles from one record; I am so thankful for the support we’ve been shown. This will more than likely be our last single from the P&T record, so it’s a fitting farewell to an unforgettable year with a song so personally close to the vest for me.”

Rival Sons announce European tour

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 12:58 PM (PST)

Rival Sons have announced that they will be hitting the road in Europe this summer starting May28th. The tour will kick off in Landgraaf, Netherlands at the Pinkpop Festival.

Rival Son’s guitarist Scott Holiday had this to say about the upcoming tour:

“Much love and thanks goes out to our UK and European fans who’ve made our last tour a complete crazy badass success. We got to visit a bunch of new places on this one and were warmly welcomed every night, like we were with old friends. Pretty damn lovely.

Now that we’re back home, we’ll be getting a little (very little) R&R, wrapping up all the details for our next record (due out late summer), and even adding a local show on the legendary Queen Mary! We’ll be headlining the Queen’s Salon, a really beautiful, old, haunted looking theatre on the ship. These local shows have become quite rare for us these days, so we wanted to make this one a special one.

Lastly, as soon as we’ve now returned home, we’re already announcing our eminent return to the UK and Europe. More dates to come, but here’s what we’ve got thus far. Festival season is growing nearer and nearer still… And we’ll do as many as we can fit on our schedule.”

Rival Sons talk about their upcoming tour, “Pressure and Time” redux

Posted by jrod1209 on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 4:44 PM (PST)

Californian hard rock act Rival Sons are preparing to release a special redux version of their 2011 breakthrough album Pressure and Time a day after they kick off a European tour.

The band will start the tour on March 11th with a run of UK dates with Black Stone Cherry, before heading on to mainland Europe for a number of headlining shows.

Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday comments:

“We’re looking forward to getting back to our ‘home away from home’, Europe, and specifically the UK. Since we were last out there we did a tour of the States and a quick run through Canada, where we pleasantly received an overwhelming response, which is fantastic. This time we’ll be joining up with the band Black Stone Cherry for the UK dates – we hear they do really well in the UK, and are a buncha good dudes.

“The rest of Europe will see us on our own, headlining again – great response last time, and it looks like this tour is already selling really well. We’ll have our follow-up record wrapped up before we leave for the tour (which we’re working on feverishly right now), so I suspect we’ll be feeling good and fired up to get cracking back on stage every night. Might even sneak a new number in here and there.

“Dearest UK and European friends – we see you are starved of the rock ‘n’ roll – famished even – and that makes us sad. No one deserves that! So now, we will bring you the rock ‘n’ roll sandwich. That’s us… the Rival Sons. See ya soon.”

Just like in the last video, there was no green screen used for this one. We actually did drive a Cadillac through outer space with a bunch of hot, naked chicks in the backseat. I haven’t seen a final edit yet because they’re trying to lower it to at least an ‘R’ rating. We’ll see if that actually happens.

The band’s latest album is “Pressure & Time” was released in June 2011 through Earache Records.

Rival Sons Hit the Road For Southern U.S. Shows

Posted by JDKleinhans on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 5:21 PM (PST)

Californian blues-rockers Rival Sons are on the road for a number of Southern US shows. Rival Sons are kicking off their string of Southern shows with a performance at Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, this Saturday, May 21stj and will be performing on the main stage along with such artists as Foo Fighters, Flaming Lips, Primus, Motörhead, and more. Rival Sons also has July dates lined up with Judas Priest and Queensrÿche.

Rival Sons drummer Michael Miley comments: “Ya!  We are on our way to Gulf Shores, Alabama, as we speak, for the Hangout Fest.  It’s been an adventure already, having locked our keys in the van (um, Scott) with a friendly young, able and willing Texan gentleman devising his own slim jim to “unlock” our vehicle after about 2 gallons of water spilling on our bed and electrical inverter, shorting it out.

“Last night we rolled up to the Mule in Fort Worth where Josh Weathers was playing (with whom we’re playing next Thursday at Wild Rooster in Fort Worth) and had a beer or three.  This run of southern dates is great cuz it allows us to obviously connect with our southern fans but also to prepare for the crazy European summer we have ahead of us.  With the new album coming out as well and the single/video for ‘Pressure and Time’, we have a lot on our plates but we’re so pumped for European invasion and loving the loads of support we’re getting from Earache and our team at home.  We can’t do this alone!”
