Falconer releases “Kings And Queens”

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 9:16 AM (PST)

Epic metal force Falconer return! On June 26th, the Swedish power folk metal warriors will release their new album, From A Dying Ember, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of From A Dying Ember, the new single, “Kings and Queens”

From the beginning, the band planned not to perform often live (their final tour date was at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA in 2015). After retiring from the stage five years ago, the band took some time off before writing a new album.

Stefan Weinerhall (guitar) comments: “Finally, we got the chance to incorporate some keyed fiddle and bagpipe into the music – something that has always been a wish from us, just to get that extra medieval and folky feel to it. In that time, we also wrote the most intense ballad ever, which turned out to be ‘Rejoice The Adorned’ – only featuring piano, keys and strings.”

Mixed and mastered by Andy LaRocque, From A Dying Ember was also recorded at LaRocque’s Sonic Train Studio. Stefan concludes: “To sum the album up, we can say that From A Dying Ember’has some things that really stand out from a usual Falconer album. A lot of things happening and more elements to the music than ever before!”

Falconer announce final live shows

ProgPower USA has announced the line up for ProgPower XVI, which will include Falconer‘s final live performance. A video featuring music from the bands announced so far can be found on facebook.com/ProgPowerUSA. The festival is scheduled to take place in Atlanta, GA September 11-12 next year. Tickets will go on sale on October 4 through Ticketmaster.

Falconer has released the following statement online:

“As the news has been dropped that we won’t continue as a live act we take the opportunity to explain, not that it really differs much from the state the band usually is in. The last show will take place at ProgPower USA in 2015.

“As I (Stefan Weinerhall) started Falconer in 1999 it was meant to be a studio project, I have always looked upon myself as a writer more than an artist, the creative work has been the reason and driving force. We started doing some shows after a while but never really going all in although the shows themselves was really rewarding, fun and filled with fond memories. It is due to conscious decisions that we have built the band up around our obligations, work schedules and family lives so there is no bitterness to this decision although the decisions were harder to make in the early years when everything started rolling. If we’re not a proper live act we’re better of as the studio project we were meant to be.

“The inconsistency of doing very few shows with huge gaps between them has meant that we’ve had to start up the rusty machinery from scratch each time. So now as we all are becoming grumpy old men, we realise that the output don’t match the input although the experiences from the past gigs have been great!

“We owe it to our fans and ourselves to do some more appearances before becoming even more reclusive than we already are, haha! So for 2015 we have looked into our windows of opportunity and seen which festivals we CAN do. Those festivals are now contacted and know of the exclusivity in the offer. So with this I hope that those of you who really want to catch us a last time will succeed, even though we haven’t directly booked a world tour!

“Cheers from the metal minstrels from the north!”

Stefan, Mathias, Karsten, Jimmy and Magnus

Falconer’s most recent album, Black Moon Rising was released in June of this year and can be previewed and purchased at metalblade.com/falconer.

Much luck to the band in their future endeavors and thanks for their efforts to date bringing great metal to true fans.

New Video: Falconer – “By the Roses Grave” off “Armod”

Posted by katstat on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 12:15 PM (PST)

Starting today Metal Injection is hosting the worldwide premiere of “By the Roses Grave” from Swedish folk metallers Falconer. “By the Roses Grave (Vid Rosornas Grav)” is taken off the bands brand new studio album “Armod,” which features 11 songs sung completely in Swedish and was released earlier this month via Metal Blade Records. Click here to check it out.

Comments guitarist Stefan Weinerhall, The video for “By the Roses Grave” is re-enacting a story that took place not far from where we live. It gives you a vision of what position you would have 150 years ago if you were just a common man or serf. It surely doesn’t look like a metal video in the beginning but then again, when have Falconer ever been about being as metal as possible? The video is once again produced and directed by www.1897.se – they also did the video for “Carnival of Disgust.”

Fans can check out the original version of the video, which is sung in Swedish, at the Metal Hammer website here.

Swedish folk metallers Falconer have launched their second single “O, tysta ensamhet” taken off their brand new studio album Armod via German Metal Hammer. Go and check it out here.

Falconer will release their seventh studio album “Armod” on June 7th via Metal Blade Records in North America!

Comments Falconer guitarist Stefan Weinerhall: “The album is embracing the Swedish folk music to a greater extent than before making it sound slightly more down to earth. The music spans from acoustic songs with cello, flute and fiddle to songs with blast beats and really heavy riffing. As said before this is a ‘one-time-only’ album and does not define the future sound of FALCONER, but it was about time to pay full notice to the influence that has always made us different. Now we have that out of our system!”

“Armod” was once again recorded at King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque’s Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden, during December and January. Take a look at the full cover art and track listing here.
