Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:26 AM (PST)

Canadian metal band 3 Inches of Blood have released a lyric video for the song “Storming Juno” off their March 2012 release Long Live Heavy Metal.  Long Live Heavy Metal is the bands fifth studio album and is a follow up to the band 2009 Here Waits Thy Doom, both of which were released via Century Media.

You can watch the video here.

Frontman Cam Pipes had the following to say about the song:
“Storming Juno is a tribute to the soldiers of the Canadian armed forces that got the first foothold for the allies on D-Day during World War II. Every November 11 we remember all who served, some who made the ultimate sacrifice, in service to their country. Releasing this lyric video is our way of acknowledging those who served our country and how proud we are of the significant contribution Canada had in fighting tyranny all those years ago.”

unleash the archers logoWe have a new band with a new video here for you today: Vancouver’s Unleash the Archers have just released the video for their power metal track “General of the Dark Army.” The song comes off of their album Demons Of The AstroWaste.

Fans of 3 Inches of Blood and other forms of hair-swingin power metal will dig this video, especially if you have a penchant for female lead singers. Here is what vocalist Brittney Hayes had to say about the video:

“Thanks to the support of tons of amazing fans we were able to make this video far more epic than the last. Getting to watch the General come to life was phenomenal, and mind blowing actually. I’ve had this vision of him ever since I wrote the song… And I think we got really close, as close as an indie band could ever get to realizing that vision.”

It was hard to find the right words for a song honoring Ronnie James Dio, but I hope it is regarded as a fitting tribute to a legendary figure. His impact on the metal community will last forever, and though he may have been small in stature, his contribution to the music scene is larger than most will ever achieve.

Review: 3 Inches of Blood – Long Live Heavy Metal

Posted by jessepac on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 9:29 PM (PST)

3-inches-of-blood-long-live-heavy-metalHow much Iron Maiden do you like? This is the question you must ask yourself before listening to any 3 Inches of Blood song. Their newest album Long Live Heavy Metal is the latest in what is now a long list of releases (five albums and three EP’s in 11 years) and does its best to get fans of blistering speed to pick up their favorite pair of headphones.

The talent is still there, the speed is still there, and the vocals are still there. The band does not do a great job of selling it, however, by burying the quality tracks in the second half of the work. Opening this album with “Metal Woman” was a good and bad choice, as it both sets the tone for the next few songs and confuses fans at the same time. But these lyrics are just painful to hear when all you wanna do is hear about some orcs or headbang to a vicious solo:

“Metal Woman/Demon in the sack/Demon Woman/Ready to attack”
