Trollfest begin recording a new album.

Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 9:46 AM (PST)

TrollfestNorwegian folk metal band Trollfest have begun recording a new album. The as of yet untitled album will be a follow-up to the bands 2012 release Brumlebassen and there is no word yet on the release date. The album will be recorded at Endre Kirkesola’s Dub Studio in Oslo and is set for release via NoiseArt Records.

The band stated the following about the album: “We will record eleven metal tracks and we also have a couple of acoustic songs up our sleeves, but at this stage obviously we are not sure which ones will make it onto the album. We will, however, be taking a slightly different musical direction with this album. The sound will undoubtedly be Trollfest, but it will vary from our last two releases. We will also be using a different studio this time. We have been more than happy with the Strand Studio who did an amazing job on ‘En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral’ and ‘Brumlebassen’, but we just wanted to get a different sound to match our new musical direction so we decided to use Endre Kirkesola’s Dub Studio in Oslo”

Thaurorod Announces New Keyboardist

Posted by JDKleinhans on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 11:48 AM (PST)

Finnish powerhouse Thaurorod, who recently successfully finished the Power of Metal Tour w/ Symphony X, Nevermore, Psychotic Waltz, and Mercenary have announced a new band member, keyboardist Vili Ollila. Vili has worked as a professional keyboardist – live, studio and teaching – and played alongside Finland’s finest pop/rock/metal musicians: most recently with Raskasta Joulua (“Heavy Christmas”) and Northern Kings projects, each featuring some of the most prestigious frontmen in Finnish metal.

Vili comments joining Thaurorod as follows: “When I was asked to join the band very late in 2010, I had already other obligations signed & sealed for the early spring of 2011. After attending a few rehearsals with the guys, listening to some new kick-ass T-Rod tracks and sharing a stage with them prior to Power Of Metal tour really convinced me that I definitely want to be a part of a group this motivated and talented! Sadly, I couldn’t attend the POM tour and that nearly broke my heart – still I’m glad that the guys understood my situation and I’d also like to extend my thanks to talented Mika Karjalainen who helped T-Rod out in their hour of need. I’m really looking forward to our next shows, especially at Metalfest and Metalcamp, and I’m also pretty stoked about the pre-production and finishing the songwriting process for the next T-Rod album. Full speed ahead! Hope to see you on tour anytime soon. Yours, -Vili”

Thaurorod part ways with singer, add Vision Divine’s Michele Luppi

Posted by Tommy on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:50 AM (PST)

Finnish power metal band Thaurorod have announced that they have parted ways with vocalist Markku Kuikka and have replaced him with Vision Divine’s Michele Luppi.

The band had this to say about Kuikka’s departure,

“The reasons why Markku is not in the band anymore is his lack of abilities to perform and to make the show that we absolutely want to give to the audiences that comes to see us on stage. We need to continue with a guy who can make audience go crazy every single night!!! We are looking very much forward to our future shows and Power Of Metal tour with Michele! Come to give this Italian gentleman a warm welcome! We already played a show in Nosturi, Helsinki with him and it felt absolutely great to share stage with him! Sorry for it took so long to make this announcement about the vocalist situation as there have been a lot of speculation because we finished the last tour with a different vocalist than who is singing on the album. We just wanted to take the time to find the best possible singer for the band first and then announce the news. At the moment THAUROROD is composing new material for the second studio album. More updates on this will be posted in coming months.”

The band was recently confirmed to perform at Metalcamp 11 Open Air festival in Tolmin, Slovenia. Their latest album “Upon Haunted Battlefields” was released on September 24 via NoiseArt Records.

New Music: Mercenary – “The Follower”

Posted by Tommy on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:39 AM (PST)

Danish melodic death metal act Mercenary have posted a new song off their upcoming album “Metamorphosis.” You can check out the song on the band’s MySpace page.

Guitarist Jakob had this to say about the song, and the album,

“‘The Follower’ is a taste of things to come from MERCENARY’s sixth studio album, ‘Metamorphosis’. The song represents a more straightforward, accessible side of MERCENARY’s new sound while it also allows singer René Pedersen to display new and more melodic aspects of his vocal range. Rest assured, however, that the album will also have far heavier and faster songs, providing the characteristic contrasts of MERCENARY’s sound.”

The band’s last studio release was 2008’s “Architect of Lies,” which was released through the band’s previous label Century Media.
