March 24, 2021 – The New York-based group Zero Trust celebrated the release of their self-titled debut EP today in partnership with Equal Vision Records. Zero Trust might be a new name, but they boast résumé credits spanning decades of the most creative, cutting-edge pockets of the area’s storied hardcore scene. With a lineup consisting of members of Coheed and Cambria, Bulldoze, Full Scale Riot, Agents of Man, Skarhead, and more, the group formed as a creative outlet during the quarantined isolation of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On their inaugural release, Zero Trust expands upon their collective experience, blurring the lines between hardcore, metal, and alternative rock with substantive lyrical themes from vocalist BJ Allen, who reflects on the socio-political turmoil that has erupted throughout the past year. To accompany the release, Zero Trust also shared the official music video for the opening track “Birch” (Editor’s Note: I vaguely think there was also a pretty cool Shabutie song called this from around the Penelope era that Travis maybe even sang (?), but maybe I am buggin’? Either way this shit is dope).

Zero Trust is out now and available to stream here.

Speaking on the single, BJ Allen (vocals) says:
“Birch is about exploring the part of your mind that knows the whole system is against you, while also knowing that if humanity were to be unified, civil and just we would be in a much better position.”

Chiodos post “3 AM” video

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 7:37 PM (PST)

Chiodos has premiered the second music video from the band’s hit album DEVIL on Popcrush HERE. The video was directed by Ramon Boutviseth (All That Remains, For Today). ‘3 Am” used to be the time in the 80’s and early 90’s that they’d spin weird videos. I think Guns N’ Roses were lucky that “welcome To The Jungle” got like one late night spin which cemented their stardom as it was requested mercilessly after that despite initially being shit on by the label and MTV. So, hey… 3 a.m. is also a good time for late night love or whatever. I haven’t even watched this Chiodos vid yet but they are usually pretty on point.

Chiodos’ Bradley Bell comments, “Never has this band been so excited about a music video, it’s weird. This time we took the approach of having fun and getting everybody involved in some acting and just being their weird selves. Hopefully everyone else enjoys it as much as we did!”

Chiodos’ recently released new album DEVIL (drk/lght records / Razor & Tie) debuted at #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart with more than 18,000 units sold.

Listening to some folks out the window on the street bum cigs off one another and it’s hella depressing. They really sound like they are selling rare baseball cards to one another. Hack. So glad I quit. Terrible for singing voice and so maybe I’ll have one or two a year if shared with a real comet of a human being.

On a more electric note, Chiodos and Blessthefall (Eric Lambert was recently interviewed on our site) have been hitting the road and wowing crowds of kids eager for energetic live shows. Not everyone is just into their phones these days. There is hope, concertgoers. Check out these cool live shots from photographer Matt Slater and take heart.

Greetings cretins! While out and about the country on The Congregation of the Damned tour with Atreyu and blessthefall, yours truly  got a chance to get with singer Brandon Bolmer and drummer Tanner Wayne of Chiodos.
