Posted by SeanB on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 1:20 PM (PST)

North Carolina heavy metal veterans Corrosion Of Conformity are currently offering their new EP Megalodon for free download.  The band released a video for the song “Feed On” which you can view by clicking right here.

Megalodon followed the successful release of Corrosion Of Conformity’s self titled Candlelight Records release in February 2012.  The EP was released in November 2012 via Scion A/V and was recorded in the band’s hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina.  C.O.C. guitarist Woody Weatherman had this to say about recording Megalodon:

“We did that in our hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, which is kind of nice, to be able to hang around in town and not have to go out somewhere, go to L.A. or New York. Sometimes it’s nice to record at home. You get a little better vibe. Plus I got to use all of my own gear. So it was fun.”

Rob Caggiano parts ways with Anthrax

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 12:44 PM (PST)

Rob Caggiano, lead guitarist of New York City thrash band Anthrax since 2001, has decided to leave the band. About his departure, Caggiano commented:

“…It’s been a wild ride (to say the least) from Day One and I wouldn’t change one single thing about the last 12 years. This is an extremely difficult and emotional decision for me to make but my heart is just steering me in a different direction right now. I’ve always been one to follow my heart in everything that I do and while this might be one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, it feels like the right one for me at this time…”

Caggiano is already involved in several other projects, including The Damned Things, The Agony Scene, Ill Nino and Cradle Of Filth‘s Nymphetamine album.

Anthrax plans to continue their upcoming tour with Exodus, Hell On Fire, Municipal Waste and Holy Grail. The band is considering many options for Caggiano’s replacement. It has been rumored that former Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz (1983-1995, 2005-2007), has been asked by fans to rejoin the band. No formal announcement has been given but stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.

Posted by jessepac on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10:46 AM (PST)

For the first time in over a decade, Anthrax and Testament will tour the US together, bringing along Death Angel for the month-long trek across the states.

“We’ve been tight with the guys in Testament for a long, long time,” said Anthrax’s Charlie Benante, “so we’re really looking forward to hanging out with them on the road. And all of us in Anthrax are big Death Angel fans, so this is going to be a monster of a good time — for all of us and for the fans. Plus, with the incredible success of The Big Four shows over the last year, we wanted to tour with some of the ‘second wave’ of thrash bands.”

Anthrax’s Scott Ian becomes a zombie

Posted by jessepac on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 2:06 PM (PST)

ScottZombie1The following comes from the man, the myth, the zombie, Scott Ian:

“My agent got the call asking if I wanted to come down and get made up to play a zombie in a webisode for AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ directed by Greg Nicotero (effects GOD). I couldn’t say yes to this fast enough. Like I said in my tweet, I’ve been wanting to do this my whole life. Zombies have always been my favorite genre of horror and to participate in something as killer as ‘The Walking Dead’ would just be amazing.

I got to the set and headed straight for the makeup trailer. I was told I was getting the full-on zombie ‘hero’ makeup. That means I get the sick head/neck wounds done with silicone appliques. Garrett Immel was doing my makeup, he’s one of the top dudes doing this on the planet. He explained how there are the main ‘hero’ zombies, then the second-tier background zombies which are more just makeup and blood and then there are the third-tier background zombies with just makeup and if it’s a night shoot, they wear masks that read well on camera. Makes sense, they couldn’t spend 90 minutes each on 500 people every time there was a zombie crowd scene.

“Garrett told me he had my picture for a week so he already knew what he wanted to do to me. I told him to not hold back, make it as brutal as he wants. The whole process was pretty painless, even sitting for 90 minutes was cool because they were putting zombie makeup on me. I would’ve sat for five hours, I was so stoked.”
