Omnium Gatherum working on new album, issue update

Posted by Metal Riot on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 1:58 PM (PST)

OMNIUM GATHERUM are currently working on their highly anticipated new album, which will be released in late summer 2018! Check out the below update from guitarist Markus Vanhala:

“Greetings from the studio vaults! We’re busy at forging the new OMNIUM GATHERUM album during the Finnish winter madness season – hopes are high here, even though the outside temperature isn’t. A lot of special good stuff is going on, and new adventures are coming up for camp OG. We’re just in the middle of recording guitar and synth stuff for the next album, and all I can say is that this is gonna be  one bad-ass album. Again we trust our good ol’ tour de force of Teemu Aalto doing recording and producing, and Dan Swanö who will fix it in the mix and master the universe. Everything’s been going really well and easily so far with producing this successor for the successful ‘Grey Heavens’, and I’ll promise this album’s gonna beat the previous one for real! The league of angry old men are here for your enjoyment! Already at this early stage it seems like this is going to be OG’s epic guitar heroism magnum opus… Maybe, haha… Me and Joonas have found some great spirit of the lost shred guys. All hail the almighty guitar and heavy metal!”

Following the recording session, OMNIUM GATHERUM will escape from the studio to get back on the road once again. Vanhala adds, “We enjoyed the Finnish-Icelandese rivalry of the ‘Arctic Circle Alliance’ European tour last year with Skalmöld and Stam1na so much that we wanted to do a European round 2. This time we’ll go to the islands of United Kingdom and Ireland, and also Scandinavia including Denmark, Sweden and Norway.”

The band will also be seen on North American soil in the Fall alongside Amorphis, Dark Tranquility and Moonspell. Full dates are as listed below.

Band Spotlight: Omnium Gatherum

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 11:07 AM (PST)

OMNIUM GATHERUM have just released their brand new single “Blade Reflections”. It is now available on all streaming and download platforms and will also be featured on a limited Edition Omnium Gatherum / Skalmöld split 7-inch, which will be available on the upcoming “Arctic Circle Alliance” European Tour (see below for all dates).

You can watch the lyric video for “Blade Reflections” streaming here:

Singer Jukka Pelkonen comments, “In the light of recent events we wanted to voice our opinion about the tragedy of suicide. This is a subject that may concern anyone at some point. ʻBlade Reflectionsʼ is a statement against suicide and an encouragement to all of those who dwell in the depths of self-annihilation. Having been there myself too, I know how devastating it can be. There is nothing more precious than this life itself and it is worth seeing through. Though, we do not condemn those who choose to go, rather we want to stand by with all the rest, all of us, who are staying.”

Night In Gales vocalist calls it quits

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10:04 AM (PST)

German melodic death metal band Night In Gales vocalist Björn Gooßes has announced that he will be leaving the band. He commented on his departure in a statement on October 12th:

“1996-2012. 16 years Night In Gales, during which I have experienced some of the most intense moments as a musician – positive as well as negative ones. Well, Heavy Metal ain´t no picnic. I don´t wanna miss these memories whatsoever and I´ll always be proud of what we have done as a band!

After four albums, some great and memorable tours, many festivals and numerous shows across all Europe as well as a crazy trip to Japan, there was more or less silence for quite a while. But ten years after „Necrodynamic“ we didn´t only give a sign life with our fifth record „Five Scars“, we rather returned with a bang! Yet this album is my swansong for Night In Gales. Since the release of „Five Scars“ we earned overwhelming response on the album and played some awesome shows. I will gratefully treasure the memory of my very last two shows with Night In Gales, which took place in Romania last weekend – but still time has come for me to close this chapter. With „Five Scars“ things have come full circle for me.

I want to thank Jens, Tobbe, Frank and Adriano, our former drummer Christian and interim drummer Hartmut as well as all supporters, partners and friends of Night In Gales for pulling their weight on making this band become part of my DNA.

1996-2012. 16 years Night In Gales. I´ll miss you, but it´s time to move on. Cheers!“

Miseration’s Christian Älvestam checks in from the studio

Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 9:54 AM (PST)

Frontman Christian Alvestam of the Swedish death metal band Miseration has posted the following “check up” from the studio on their Facebook page. Miseration is currently in the studio working on their 3rd album for Lifeforce Records. The as of yet untitled album is to be released early summer 2012 and sounds like it’s coming together swimmingly.

“I’m sitting here listening through the new album right now (drums, guitars and bass + some additional surprises;)) and I’m blown away by how crushingly cool this album is turning out to be! The sound is also massive already at this point in time and we haven’t even started mixing the damn thing yet…haha! I also have to compliment my brothers Jani and Marcus for writing such bad-ass songs. They’v…e really outdone themselves this time. I need to praise Oscar as well, for his performance on this album – it’s nothing short of amazing! I applaude you guys!

Vocally, I will be sinking my teeth into the material for real, starting Sunday. The material truly deserves a “going all out”-effort, so I will strain my every nerve making sure nothing is left to chance! In the meantime, I want to wish everyone a great weekend!”

Sons Of Aeon working on new album

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 11:14 AM (PST)

Finnish melodic death metal band Sons Of Aeon, featuring members of Ghost Brigade, Swallow The Sun, Code For Silence and Endstand, have been finishing the writing process for their Lifeforce Records debut album. The album has been set to be released later this year but no specific date has been given as of yet.

Guitarist Tapio Vartiainen has this to say regarding the writing process and the debut album:

“It’s an odd case, this Sons Of Aeon. Here I sit and try to write news about our debut album and to start with, I don’t really even know how to describe our sound to strangers.

There’s so much different things going on…it’s tricky to find the right words that’d make the songs justice. It’s very intense and it’s very musical, that’s for sure.

I think that our love for 90′s Death Metal shines through in most songs but there’s also a lot of these more moody, melancholic passages and even some Hardcore/Punk touches. And to me, those elements really make all the difference. It’s an interesting blend of styles and strangely, it all makes sense.

Anyway, the songwriting process is now done and we’re starting the drum recordings at the end of May. So if all goes well we should have the finished album in our hands some time during the summer. To say we’re excited and proud about all this would be an understatement. We can’t fucking wait to get this album done.”
