Modern Feminist punk trailblazers War On Women are one of the most important acts in the scene right now, especially in the hateful age of Trump. The rise of rape culture on the Warped Tour from some scene bands was a frightening trend and destructive on so many levels, so it is excellent to see the tour booking a band that stands in such firm opposition to that kind of behavior.

Some other great bands this year include Beartooth, Candiria and Barbed Wire Dolls.

War On Women commented:

“Playing all 40 dates of this year’s Warped Tour is a great opportunity for us as a band to use our privilege for something positive. We don’t have to deal with the day-to-day struggles that many people of color, LGBTQIA folks, people with disabilities, or undocumented people have to face just to exist, so we feel like we’re in a unique position to infiltrate what could be a hostile environment, and ensure that women’s voices are heard, from an intersectional feminist perspective. Safer space/DIY/art space shows can be transforming and life-affirming, even vital to people’s survival, but we’ve always believed that we have the ability to take on the unsafe spaces, and we hope that our involvement can lead to a more victim-centered, and overall welcoming, environment for all.”

Well, Monday is officially saved, kinda. If you are like me (probably not) and were super bummed out by the mostly boring rotting cock tease of a Walking Dead finale and then woke up to hate tweets from Chris Brown SUPPORTERS just because you suggested that a douchebag who beats women and mocks other women for suicide attempts might not deserve an iHeartRadio award, as well as an offended tweet from fucking necro Colonel Sanders and KFC (I shit you not) saying they don’t use mutant chickens anymore …well, let’s just say that I was pleased as punch to see some great Cult Leader news and remember that I own a copy of Useless Animal. It’s like a reset button for cultural moronic malaise.

Anyway, the killer band are hitting Europe with some great bands in tow including Plebeian Grandstand who I am super into. I will not be seeing this tour but the mere existence of it across the pond gives me hope that all hope is not lost.

Eyehategod Spring shows with Fight Amp, C.O.C., Discharge, etc.

We are lucky to live in a time where you can’t step out of your puke infested snake basket without tripping over a grimy sounding band. From Haxen to Misery Kills to Sourvein, the darkness of raw metal and hardcore music is more pervasive than ever. Eyehategod still pretty much take the crown for intense,  blues and junk punk/sludge that will eat you alive or set you free. “Medicine Noose” from their last self-titled record is case in point. From the second the tune opens with a classic sounding EHG feedback ring, you know you’re about to get buried in hell and brimstone.

The veteran band are hitting the road for a Spring run to make some freshly bloomed flowers die. Hopefully no dates will be cancelled, but this band is rock n roll as fuck to the day and so there are no certainties in life. Is there a band more befitting our current American shit show? I think not.

Dates below.
