The Atlas Moth to tour with Mustard Gas & Roses

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 5:25 PM (PST)

What can we say that hasn’t been said already about Chicago’s harshly imaginative noise makers THE ATLAS MOTH?

It is no secret we love the bastards and that you may have indeed seen their faces on various FBI Most Wanted lists around the country…but in reality they have just been plotting their latest rock n’ roll itinerary, not some bank heist.

The Atlas Moth have new tour dates announced with special guests Mustard Gas & Roses and will also share select dates with the natural born killers in He Whose Ox Is Gored. Fans can also expect special performance in Los Angeles at Resident DTLA with Of Feather & Bone on June 5th. Any of these shows is likely to be awesome as all the artists completely slay.

Released February 9, 2018 via Prosthetic Records, The Atlas Moth’s latest opus Coma Noir entered the Billboard charts at the following impressive positions and continues to draw praise from media and fans alike.

#24 Current Hard Music Albums
#24 Top New Artist Albums
#121 Top New Artist Albums Consumption

Produced by Sanford Parker (Eyehategod, Voivod), Coma Noir is perhaps both the bands most accessible and yet grim record yet. The band remain in a category all their own straddling extreme metal, psychedelic revelation and alternative rock’s barren corpse.

Philadelphia psych rock quintet Ruby the Hatchet has announced U.S. headlining tour dates in support of its celebrated new album Planetary Space Child. This band is so talented. I played some tracks for one of my best friend’s recently when she asked me what is a band that I think rocks so hard right now and she agreed that they indeed kick ass. So cool to hear a band that is so authentic about what they do and with such powerhouse tunes.

Fresh off U.S. dates alongside Pallbearer, Ruby the Hatchet will launch the upcoming tour on April 13 in Canton, OH. The spring trek will include support from Youngblood Supercult and Heavy Temple and also see Ruby the Hatchet‘s perform as part of Austin’s acclaimed Levitation Festival on April 26. From April 19-23, Ruby the Hatchet will play west coast live dates supporting Windhand, which ought to be extremely rad.

I know what you are thinking. How can there be a second ‘No More Tours’ when the original tour name itself implied there were never gonna be any more in the first place? Well, this is Ozzy. He struck a Faustian deal and stuck around, kept metal going with Ozzfest, did some more Black Sabbath, bada bing bada-faeries wear boots.

Until we are certain Altered Carbon won’t come true and Ozzy’s consciousness stack is not going to be put by Sharon into the body (or ‘sleeve’) of  Joel Kinnaman or, more likely, David Draiman…well, we just have no way of knowing if the announcement of No More Tours 2 really IS the end of Ozzy’s 5 decades of touring adventures or if he will come back as some sort of time cop.

Whatever, shit happens. Let the guy have a second last hurrah! We are lucky he is still around when so many aren’t or have become holograms. Head here for more info . Zakk Wylde is indeed doing the dates and Stone Sour will provide support, a fitting crew to carry the dark prince of metal off into the night seeking bats to nibble.

All jokes aside, if this is it as is likely, go see our dude one last time. That’s the king right there.

KING WOMAN have announced a Spring 2018 North American tour with Russian Circles. The tour begins March 27th in Los Angeles, travels through 18 cities and ends April 22nd in Chicago, IL. A full list of confirmed tour dates is available below.

Additionally, KING WOMAN has recently shared a cover of “I Wanna Be Adored” by The Stone Roses. Listen and order the powerful cover on all digital services HERE.

KING WOMAN’s latest album Created in the Image of Suffering received high end of 2017 praise charting on notable album of the year lists such as Loudwire (#16), here at Metal Riot as our top album of the year (#1), Treble (#9), and Revolver (Best Music Video – Manna #15) among numerous others.

Created in the Image of Suffering was recorded with engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Wreck & Reference, Oathbreaker) at the Atomic Garden in Palo Alto, CA.  Each song evokes rich, gloomy imagery with crumbling washes of blurred, billowing distortion densely layered atop hazy, psychedelic atmospheres that call to mind a surrealistic Black Sabbath fronted by Mazzy Star. Complete with deeply personal, introspective lyrics that serve as a catharsis for years of religious and mental torment, KING WOMAN truly suffer to create their art.

Machine Head drop new song “Volatile”

Posted by longhairedpoet on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 12:13 PM (PST)

Machine Head are preparing to unleash their newest album Catharsis on January 26 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment!

Ahead of that release they’ve dropped on more song, “Volatile.”

Every track off this album so far have been amazing. “Volatile,” for its part, is a political song to remind anyone who’s confused, about the original and long-lasting political bent of heavy metal – “Sick of the white folks privileged and vain // Protesting a culture that isn’t the same // Don’t blame the false elites // When Nazi assholes march the streets.”

You’re going to want to pick up a copy of this album.

In the mean time you can stream “Volatile” and check out tour dates for Machine Head here.
