Crowbar tour with Tombs, Incite, Tricounty Terror to begin this weekend

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 4:51 PM (PST)

So, I can’t believe how terrible the writing is on the Marvel Inhumans show. Seriously, Black Bolt blows up a cop car and they just arrest him, throw him in gen pop and neither S.H.I.E.L.D. nor any other real heroes come to investigate who the fuck he is.  Karnak, who is supposed to never make mistakes and is played admirably by Ken Leung as he tries to juggle the hot turd Marvel’s shitty tv budget and rushed production schedule handed him and the rest of the decent enough cast , falls down a hill and bumps his head.  Karnak loses his powers from this idiotic mishap and then tries to hang out with some marijuana growers with the fakest looking herb I have ever seen on tv. So so corny. Thankfully, I am here today to remind y’all that something much more consistent exists…the eternally good legacies of Crowbar and Tombs. Neither band has ever made a bad record (though Crowbar admittedly have many more than most bands besides , like, the Melvins and Kreator, haha).

Crowbar are touring in support of The Serpent Only Lies and still deliver the goods just as powerfully as ever. Truly one of the most dogged underground legacy bands and it is great to see them bringing out a cool variety of acts representing different corners of metal.

The Contortionist announce dates with Nothing More

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 9:35 AM (PST)

Prog-heads The Contortionist have announced dates with outspoken rockers Nothing More, a one two punch bill that is sure to thrill fans of both young up and comers. These are both bands with huge potential for rock’s future and this pairing is overdue.

“We’re very happy to announce that we will be sharing the stage with Nothing More,” says vocalist Michael Lessard. “We have continually tried to tour with bands that excite us and push us to evolve, and Nothing More does both of those things. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!”

The Contortionist’s Clairvoyant reunited the band with producer Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, Through The Eyes Of The Dead).

Ozzy announced ‘Farewell’ tour. Who believes it?

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 12:38 PM (PST)

Ozzy Osbourne is soon announcing dates for what he claims will be his last full tour, though he may do shows here and there in the future. The guy is getting up there, so I can respect that. Still, it is easy to wonder if this is bullshit. No More Tours was a long time ago in the early 90’s and his brand has only grown bigger. Money can be very tempting, not that Ozzy needs any more. But who knows. Maybe this is it!?

Metal Sucks has the full scoop HERE.

I am glad he has been playing with Zakk again, as it will give this farewell more of a merry conclusion that the Bill Ward-less Sabbath The End travesty. I’m fully in camp Ward on that one, who is TOURING with Day Of Errors alongside Witch fucking Mountain in December, which makes it look like the other Sabbath guys just didn’t want to pay Bill squarely.

Anyway, here is what the Oz-meister says:

“People keep asking me when I’m retiring. This will be my final world tour, but I can’t say I won’t do some shows here and there.”

Khemmis added to Decibel Magazine Tour, 3rd LP in 2018

Denver’s KHEMMIS have already ensured that future bards will sing their praises and adventures far into the future due to the excellence of sophomore record Hunted alone. They blend the perfect amount of epic doom, harmonized guitar, melodic and grim vocals and attention to tone into a potent and heady battle brew.

Now the band has been confirmed to take place in the Seventh Annual Decibel Magazine Tour, set to run through North America from February 15th through March 10th. This is not out of left field, since Decibel gushed about Hunted as the magazine’s pick for album of the year of 2016 (no easy feat).

Issues the band, “We’re honored to be part of the 2018 Decibel Tour alongside Wolves In The Throne Room, Myrkur, and the legendary Enslaved. We look forward to playing in a number of new cities, particularly throughout Canada, as well as returning to a number of areas we know and love. We might even include a new song from our upcoming album — the only way to know is to be there!”

Halford is arguably the most talented classic elder front man still active in metal (and showing no signs of slowing down). Judas Priest are gods of metal, even if some people think they are just a ‘rock n roll’ band. Eff that. They are molten British Steel, baby.

Today the band have announced a new studio album Firepower and a big tour with support from Saxon and Black Star Riders! That is one hell of a kick ass grouping of acts.

Archspire set to kick off ‘Bloodletting’ North American Tour

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 9:34 AM (PST)

A reminder that tech death maestros Archspire, which placed at #14 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, will embark on the “Bloodletting North America XI” tour later this month.  The Kennedy Veil, Origin and a slew of other bands are also on the package.

A full list of confirmed tour dates and the music for “Involuntary Doppelgänger” can be found below.

I am listening to “Delusions” from Wistful by Norwegian songstress Sylvaine right now after a deep sleep and it is gently easing me back to reality after I collapsed into bed this evening. The music has me feeling like I am still dreaming though I am also admittedly in the dark, very exhausted from a moving job and somewhat dizzy from Spiro and being over-caffeinated today. Honestly, this music is so easy to get lost in and so comfortable as an escape from the state of things right now that I want to just stop typing, close my eyes and drift off with it, but then I would fail to remind our dear readers in Europe about Sylvaine’s new tour which starts imminently!

Shores Of Null who support are a Metal Riot favorite (read a review of their latest HERE) and I have never heard of Harikiri For The Sky, but how bad could they be to earn a spot on such a cool tour? Hopefully she will come back to the United States soon as well.

Immortal Bird to begin first European tour with Moshpig this month

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1:13 PM (PST)

I was just playing Immortal Bird the other day to sort of expand the horizons of someone ‘stuck’ in Converge and ETID land. Not that there is anything wrong with those acts – they are both super talented and awesome – but a lot of younger kids I know sort of get in to them and stop there. There is a whole wide world of heavy music waiting for you beyond the most popular acts!

Anyway, Immortal Bird are a big favorite here at Metal Riot – one of the most self-challenging and determined acts out there. They are now kicking off their first European tour! To our Euro readers…GO TO THIS!!! And of course check out their recent music HERE.

“It’s our first time touring Europe,” says vocalist Rae Amitay. “We’re going out with a super intense and fun French grindcore band, Moshpig, hitting four countries in two weeks, and a couple of the highlights will be the Damnation Prefest in Leeds and Bilbao Deathfest in Spain with Sete Star Sept, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Internal Suffering, and a bunch more. Very stoked to get out of the US for a minute!”

The tour starts October 21st and features French grindcore band Moshpig as well.

The brotherhood that is Black Label Society are hitting the road again. Rocking plenty a face off of late with Zakk Sabbath and Ozzy is not enough for the insatiable guitarist Zakk Wylde and the man with a plan is taking BLS back to the stages of America in 2018. The band will be supporting Grimmest Hits and are bringing a stellar array of heavy support on select dates from Eyehategod, Red Fang and Corrosion Of fuckin’ Conformity.

King Parrot announce UK headliner

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 1:00 PM (PST)

Was listening to Locrian’s bleakly comforting “The Future Of Death” when some fresh thrashy news hit my inbox. The UK is cooler than we are in America and thus Australian rage-a-holics King Parrot can probably do a better proper headliner there. Let’s face it, a lot of Americans listen to hot garbage when not believing steaming horseshit.

“We’re excited to announce a headlining UK tour this November, in support of our new album, Ugly Produce”, states KING PARROT’s vocalist, Matt Young. The Australian thrash metal / grindcore band offered a positive update after the cancellation of their autumn European tour with Decapitated. KING PARROT will start the tour in Norwich, UK, on November 7th, shortly after the completion of their ongoing North American run with Superjoint and Devildriver.

Igorrr European Tour dates, live footage from Dour Festival

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 8:39 AM (PST)

Igorrr– the brainchild of French musician and eclectic composer Gautier Serre – certainly made one of the greatest, zaniest and most inspired albums of the year with Savage Sinusoid. Now you can witness the band’s delightful array of various insanities live as they are setting out on a European tour, or watch new footage of their recent performance at the Dour Festival.

Gautier Serre comments: “We’re very excited to take the road for almost two months and to play this music all over Europe. Performing this music provokes always very interesting reactions – some people get it, others don’t. While we are deep into it with the band, it’s going to be a strong experience for sure.”

Nitrus Oxide is not included but we do have dates and live footage BELOW.
