The Black Dahlia Murder release “Child of Night” music video

Posted by longhairedpoet on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 1:08 PM (PST)

Michigan metallers The Black Dahlia Murder have released a video for their song “Child of Night.”

This video comes out ahead of the release of the band’s latest album Verminous due out on April 17 via Metal Blade Records.

The video was produced by Vesa Ranta & Kaira Films.

“I think this is the biggest evolutionary leap we’ve ever taken from one album to the next. We stoked the creative fires with 2017’s ‘Nightbringers‘ and it’s gone much further now in ‘Verminous‘,” states vocalist Trevor Strnad. “It’s a very colorful, moody, and charismatic album that experiments with new sounds and ideas without losing the cutthroat Black Dahlia edge. There is a lot of minutiae to digest. Plenty of delicious little Easter eggs woven into the fabric of each song. Each one is a living, breathing entity that will stand on its own as some of the best music this band has ever created.”

Judas Priest , icons of true metal, have announced a 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour for frothing metal fanatics who still crave the band’s molten and particular sound. Halford is still capable of ruling the stage and the band’s recent Firepower was masterful evidence that they still can startle with the power of even new material. I am certainly supporting this over KK’s Priest silliness. No Offense to KK but fuck Ripper…he’s consistently said lots of dumb sexist right wingy shit and after I argued with him about degrading Stormy Daniels in super trashy ways and sex workers in general I will never support any records he is on again. And I once upon a time LOVED his Iced Earth-era  (sorry but he never matched Rob in Priest…that’s a fucking Joke).

Anyway, back to positivity…

Judas Priest will be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with a world tour coming to the US in the fall. The 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour will also feature fucking Sabaton as openers! How sick is that?!!  It is being fueled by the indeed highest charting album of Priest’s career Firepower which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200.

“Judas Priest are primed and ready to deliver the goods with our 50 Heavy Metal Years anniversary celebration stage show spectacular! Performing a blistering cross section of songs from our lives in metal – we can’t wait to raise horns with you again at this once in a metal lifetime event!” – Judas Priest

Lot of tour news today from Ozzy sadly having to cancel his farewell dates with Marilyn Manson due to illness to Faith No More and Korn hitting the road with Spotlights, Helmet and others in tow. For me, the coolest announcement was from, uh, the Punchbowl? Alt rock fusion funk metal hard rock blender of weirdness icons Primus are known to have their own legendary take on Rush’s “YYZ” that often segues into “John The Fisherman” and created a nerdy bridge between fun living fandoms many years ago. Shit, due to my age I probably was aware of the cover version first. Anyhow, both powerful trios capable of crazy instrumental prowess and weird ass vocals – of course it made sense. Seriously can you hear  Hellbound 17 1/2 (theme from)” and not hear some Rush influence?

To honor the late, great Neil Peart we now are lucky to get Les and the gang doing a Farewell To Kings full album tour. Pretty special. Check out the dates HERE.

This summer, #Primus will pay homage to prog-rock legends @rush with a "Tribute to Kings", a cross-country tour that will feature the iconic 'A Farewell to Kings' in its entirety. Special guests @officialwolfmother will be joining the tour, with @theswordofficial and @battlestheband opening select dates. "A little over one year ago, Ler LaLonde and I started kicking the idea around of Primus performing a series of shows featuring an iconic Rush album from our youth," says bandleader Les Claypool. "Being that 'A Farewell to Kings' was the first Rush record I ever heard, and that it contains my all-time favorite Rush tune, "Cygnus X1", the choice narrowed quickly. Years ago, I had done something similar with Colonel Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, when we covered Pink Floyd Animals in its entirety. It was an insane amount of work, but ended up being one of the most enjoyable live endeavors I've ever done. Dubbing the tour 'Primus: A Tribute to Kings'; it was originally scheduled to be performed in the Fall of 2019, but when we were asked to support Slayer on their Final Campaign, the "Tribute to Kings" tour was postponed. Geddy, Alex and Neil had been superheroes to Larry, Herb and I in our teens, so when we all became pals while touring together in the early 90's, we were pretty delighted; partially because of the musical geek-out factor, but mostly because the three guys whom we had admired so much from afar, turned out to be truly great, down-to-earth humans, and like us, a tad eccentric. The "Tribute to Kings" tour will be just as it is implied, a respectful and loving tribute to three spectacular musicians, songwriters, legends and friends" A special pre-sale, including VIP upgrade options, will go on sale tomorrow, Wed, February 19 at 10am local time. General public on sale is this Friday, February 21 at 10am local time. Ticket & show info at www.primusville.com/tour

Psychy stony proggy hard rockers King Buffalo are just the thing for getting your wheels and imagination turning on those overcast days where the clouds won’t seem to part. You can listen to their  tasteful 8 minute new road worthy opus “Eta Carinae” now from new EP Dead Star, out March 20th, if you want to get the yellow motion lines on your mental highway flying past again at optimum speeds.  I am liking the propulsive grooves and smooth vocal hypnosis of this one. This band never tip their hand and just grow on you like a familiar shirt you don’t want to change, but hopefully occasionally is laundered- hahaha.

“These six songs deviate and expand on horizons that we as King Buffalo haven’t yet reached,” says drummer Scott Donaldson, who also handled the graphic layout of Dead Star with Ryan T. Hancock’s striking cover art. “It’s extremely exciting to make something familiar, but unlike anything we’ve previously done. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

Dead Star was written and recorded by King Buffalo in Rochester, NY at the Main Street Armory in December of 2019 & January 2020. Produced & engineered by Sean McVay, mixed by Grant Husselman, and mastered by Bernie Matthews. The artwork was created by Ryan T Hancock with fonts by Mike Turzanski.

Dead Star Track list:
1. Red Star Pt. 1
2. Red Star Pt. 2
3. Echo of a Waning Star
4. Ecliptic
5. Eta Carinae
6. Dead Star

Dead Star is the Rochester rock trio’s 4th EP overall and kicks off a busy 2020 that finds the band schlepping their sonic spaciousness to more stages and markets. Dates BELOW.

Get your pittin’ pants on, kids. Terror are bringing The Warriors, the very deadly indeed Creeping Death and Dare on a short West Coast (mainly Cali) run of frolic and furious foaming mouth fun. The underground is an extended family at the best of times and this looks like a rad little tour. Creeping Death has a lot of dates coming up with The Acacia Strain as well this year, but here is an earlier option.

Huge tour news as Megadeth team up with cohorts Lamb Of God to underscore the respect the groups have often had for one another over the years. Special Guests on the tour include the iconic In Flames and metal staple genre band Trivium for a huge package. Heh, heh, Beavis…he said ‘huge package”. Sorry. Had to.

“Hello me! I’m back again, better than ever and coming to a town near you with Lamb of God, Trivium and In Flames. If you want high octane metal madness this is the tour for you.”

LAMB OF GOD, adds:
“The world has never needed heavy more than it does today and top to bottom, this tour delivers! Big tour news of the day as Black Dahlia Murder confirm they will set out with Testament, Municipal Waste and Meshiaak for a North American blood run.  The near-month-long trek will commence in Phoenix, Arizona on April 20th and conclude in Anaheim, California on May 28th. Obviously this is going to be fuck-nuts bonkers mosh-city. Can you tell I used to be an English major?

Comments vocalist Trevor Strnad of the tour, “It is a massive honor and pleasure to be considered a worthy peer to the mighty Testament. Being a fan of theirs since childhood, I have to stop and pinch myself to see if it’s a dream or not. Luckily, I’m still awake! To say that we in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER are excited for this undertaking would be a massive understatement. Not to mention the added pleasure of combining forces with the non-stop energy of Municipal Waste. Too fucking sick! These three entities together will be leveling venues across North America and leaving no head un-banged! This is it! The stars have aligned! Prepare to fucking thrash!”

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, February 7th at 10:00am local time. See all confirmed dates below.
