Soen streaming “Martyrs” video at Metal Injection

Posted by longhairedpoet on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 12:02 PM (PST)

Swedish progressive metallers Soen are streaming the music video for their song “Martyrs” over at Metal Injection.

The music video starts with the lead singer dressing in drag and meeting the rest of the band out on the town. They are also dressed in drag.

Vocalist Joel Ekelöf had this to say about the video:

“The video and the song reflects the importance to stand up for yourself and not be trapped in other peoples’ expectations of you. People are going to try to push you down and they want you to conform to the prevailing ideals, but as long as you follow your own path, you are never wrong.”

This message is matched with the band disrobing from their drag at the end of the video.

Produced by David Castillo and Iñaki Marconi at Ghostward Studios and Studio 6, Lotus features the first recorded Soen material with newest recruit, Canadian-born guitarist Cody Ford.

Check out the music video for “Martyrs” and Soen European tour dates here.

High On Fire announce Electric Messiah Tour

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 12:45 PM (PST)

Hey friends. Here to announce a cool tour for you metal heads while taking a break from berating people online about why it is wrong for Jay Z and Meek to appear on a song with Rick Ross calling someone (even a pedophile like Tekashi69) a f**got. Guess what? You can’t have social justice that still enables homophobia, sexism or transphobia, y’all. It isn’t that hard and pathetic cis heteronormative dudes are still like this, especially in marginalized communities when it is used to keep them down as well. Super sad. We need to uplift one another. Which reminds me I once had a rad talk about Christ consciousness with Matt Pike on the phone years ago.

High On Fire have a new tour coming up for the kick ass Electric Messiah. Click HERE for tickets.

These dates will be the first time the band has played live since the cancelation of their tour with Municipal Waste earlier this year due to the partial amputation of Matt Pike’s toe. I was hoping they would tour with Weedeater so we could have a dual sludgy toe tragedy tour. But in all seriousness we are glad Mr. Pike is doing better and that must have been horrible. Sending mad love to the band and respect for another superb record!

Gilby Clarke embarks on a string of headline dates

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 1:29 PM (PST)

Rockers! We got cool news, Gilby Clarke of GNR/MC5 association is heading out in a comet blaze on a short run of headliner tour dates. Clarke is one of the baddest mofos out there in the guitar wars trenches and we suggest you go.  The Gilby Clarke band is a well-oiled three-piece that comprises of Gilby Clarke (vocals/guitar), EJ Curse (bass) and Jimmy D’Anda (drums).

Clarke joined Guns in the early 90’s as the Use Your Illusion tour kicked off. He appeared on the bands Spaghetti Incident, Live Era ’88-’91 & Greatest Hits albums. Surviving the longest tour in history – Clarke went solo & came out swinging with PawnShop Guitars. A catalog of rock n roll purity: Tijuana Jail, Cure Me… Or Kill Me… & The Stone’s Dead Flowers put this record on many year-end top 10 lists.
