Immortal Bird reveal headlining end of 2019 dates

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 12:50 PM (PST)

IMMORTAL BIRD are very high up in my estimation for which bands made the best heavy record of 2019 and now they will close out the year with a stretch of North American headlining dates. The two-week run goes from December 7th in Dayton, Ohio and close December 20th in their home city of Chicago, Illinois. Thrive On Neglect is everything you loved about this band taken to the next level, a barrage of rough edged fringe genres and raw emotions honed to a more technically astounding attack that never loses heart, soul or fury for the sake of what good old arbiter of fine, rare metals Gollum would call tricksiness. I mean, they slay and can play. Ok?

Comments IMMORTAL BIRD vocalist Rae Amitay, “We’re stoked to finally kick off the touring cycle for Thrive On Neglect. This will be a great opportunity for us to play the full record in a bunch of cities we love before the year is over. There’s a lot more traveling in the works for 2020, too. Don’t tell my cats; they’re mad enough about this run.”

Pittsburgh metallers Signs of the Swarm have released their newest lyric video for their track聽“Tempting Death.” The track features Tom Barber of Chelsea Grin.

The track was released via Slam Worldwide and comes off the band’s forthcoming album聽Vital Deprivation. The album is due out October 11 via Unique Leader Records.聽The 10 track album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland (August Burns Red, Rivers of Nihil, The Last Ten Seconds of Life) at Think Loud Studios in York, Pa.

Signs of the Swarm said of the release:

“We are pleased to present our third album via Unique Leader Records,聽Vital Deprivation. We began writing for the album shortly after TDOE was released. From the beginning we had a sound in mind that was more aggressive and fast paced, but equally as brutal as our previous releases. What makes this album different from our past is that we wrote with pleasing ourselves in mind first and foremost. We鈥檝e covered a lot of ground in just under 40 minutes. Some of the album may be what you expect to hear from us, and hopefully some may not. David Simonich is a powerhouse of a vocalist bringing a whole new range of motion to the band鈥檚 spectrum. His lyrical content and cadence bring a more emotional and poetic energy to Signs while retaining the aggression he鈥檚 become known for. We鈥檇 like to thank Carson Slovak & Grant McFarland for helping us to shape this album into a coherent message from beginning to end. Thank you to our fans who have supported us relentlessly, this is the first of many to come. Please enjoy Vital Deprivation.”

Signs of the Swarm will hit the road this Fall as part of the Disentomb-headlined Bloodletting North America tour alongside Visceral Disgorge, Continuum, Organectomy, and Mental Cruelty.

Diamond Head release “The Sleeper”

Posted by longhairedpoet on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 11:18 AM (PST)

British heavy metal icons Diamond Head released a lyric video for their song “The Sleeper” on August 8.

“The Sleeper” is the fourth single off of the band’s latest album The Coffin Train, which came out in May via Silver Lining Music.

Of the track, vocalist Rasmus Bom Andersens comments, “It’s such a big sounding track that it almost takes you on a cinematic journey. ‘The Sleeper’ is a follow up to ‘Silence’ off the last record. We had fans who loved the orchestral elements and I wanted to give them some more. It was inspired by a favorite Sci-fi movie from my childhood.”

Adds guitarist Brian Tatler, “Starting life in 2016 with the main riff, I decided to demo it and see if I could make it into a song. With a bit of work this grew into a powerful monster with Ras’ lyrics inspired by the 1984 film Dune. It’s very moody and dynamic with brilliant orchestration.”

Toxic Holocaust prepare to release ‘Primal Future: 2019’ this fall

Posted by longhairedpoet on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 4:22 PM (PST)

Portland, Oregon crossover legends Toxic Holocaust are preparing to release their latest full-length聽Primal Future: 2019 via Entertainment One on October 4.

Joel Grind had this to say about the new album:

“When I started the band in 1999, I never imagined I’d still be doing it in 2019. It’s been a long time coming but the new album is finally ready and it’s sort of a culmination of my past twenty years of doing this band. Most notably, I decided to go back to my roots and record this entire album by myself and play all of the instruments like I did in the early days. It was a lot of fun and nostalgic and at the same time exciting to be able to apply everything I’ve learned over the years. ‘Chemical Warlords’ opens the album and sets the tone for the rest of the record. My vision for this album was sort of a cyberpunk dystopian future. Enjoy!”
Primal Future: 2019 was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Grind with artwork by Steve Crisp.
Toxic Holocaust will join Gwar’s massive North American Use Your Collusion Tour next month. The journey begins September 16th in Grand Rapids, Michigan and runs through November 5th in Indianapolis, Indiana. Additional support will be provided by Sacred Reich and Against The Grain.
