British progressive metal mischief-maker’s Tesseract have decided to stream Odyssey/Scala in its entirety on Youtube.

Odyssey/Scala will be TesseracT’s first foray into releasing full-length live audio/video concert footage. It also sees the return of vocalist Daniel Tompkins.

Instead of the DVD being one full go, a traditional live concert, the band recorded the audio portion (Odyssey) while on the European and Russian legs of the Altered States World Tour.

The video portion (Scala) was filmed at home in London, UK.

Check out the video here.

Melvins release “Colossus Of Destiny” movie Kickstarter footage

There is a really solid looking Melvins documentary in the works. The kickstarter launched and is HERE.

The film, which is currently under production with an anticipated early 2016 release, is the creation of Bob Hannam and Ryan Sutherby.  The pair, who met through a mutual affection for the Melvins, began work on the officially authorized documentary in late 2014.

“We kept asking ourselves why no one had ever made a film about the Melvins,” explained Hannam.  “What an incredible story and twisted tale both Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover have taken.  There aren’t many bands who can say they’ve influenced some of the most popular artists of our generation and done it in every instance according to their own rules, still as important, if not more so, some 32 years after forming.”

You can catch some footage from the trailer (featuring Mark Arm, David Yow, Matt Pike, Chris Cornell and more) BELOW.

Rosetta: Audio/Visual Score released online

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 8:05 AM (PST)

Good day for amazing band related film news from the Indecision movie trailer (!!!!) and screening in Brooklyn to Rosetta releasing the score for Audio/Visual HERE. An East Coast band of considerable note, Rosetta prove  they are still on another level. This is very exciting and fans from Mogwai to Converge to Sigur Rós should be chuffed. Great strides in band/cinema/documentary relationships have evolved lately as the post-MTV era and Reality TV sle-epoch time we are in now is finally producing items of merit and depth again such as Audio/Visual  or the recent almighty Sam Black Church effort.

Says the band:

This is our original score for Justin Jackson’s documentary, Rosetta: Audio/Visual (released 12/25/14). While the film is Justin’s independent creation and not our work, we contributed original music to the project.

This is a full-length instrumental ambient album made up of long versions of the score pieces appearing in the film. They have not been previously released anywhere else.

We are offering it in digital format only as a pay-what-you-wish download. All the revenue from the score album will go directly to the recording sessions for Rosetta’s next full length, to be released in mid-2015.

Enjoy! Lots more to come in 2015.

Premiered by NPR, the acclaimed French-Austrian artist, choreographer and director Gisèle Vienne has made a film titled “Brando”, inspired by, and using, Scott Walker + Sunn O)))’s song of the same name (which appears on their collaborative album, Soused, out this week).

With Vienne interpreting the tracks themes, the filming took place in a remote 1968 chalet in the French Alps with the story revolving around three performers – a dancer (Anja Röttgerkamp), a teenager (Léon Rubbens), and French arts icon Catherine Robbe-Grillet.

With Gisèle a frequent collaborator with Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’Malley, they will present Kindertotenlieder in New York later this month – a hybrid dance theatre work she has choreographed, with Stephen, part of a musical duo to accompany the performers. Taking place from October 29th to November 1st at New York Live Arts on W 19th Street, more information can be found here.

Mall, the debut feature film by Joe Hahn of Linkin Park, will appear in theaters nationwide starting this Friday, October 17th. Co-starring Vincent Donofrio (who pulls triple duty as star/producer/screenwriter), Gina Gershon (Killer Joe), Cameron Monaghan (TVs Shameless), Mall examines a group of disgruntled suburbanites who find themselves at a shopping mall in the midst of a seemingly random shooting. The film will also be made available for purchase through www.mallthemovie.com on the same day of its theatrical release via Paragon Pictures in association with Silver Lining Entertainment.

For more information regarding tickets and theater locations, visit:

www.fandango.com/mall_176152/movieoverview

As a member of the multi-platinum Grammy-winning rock band, Hahn is responsible for the beats, programming and keyboard heard in Linkin Park. He has also directed as many as 30 of the bands ground-breaking music videos, and over a dozen short films and music videos for other musical acts. Now Hahn is making his full feature directorial debut with Mall, featuring a script adapted from Eric Bogosians 2001 novel of the same name by DOnofrio, Joe Vinciguerra, and Sam Bisbee. “I find it refreshing to see this kind of point-of-view in contrast to today’s society that interacts digitally”, Hahn recently explained to Mashable. “When I read this script, it felt real and refreshing to show how ugly people can be as they hide their inner beasts after cracking their facades.”

Billboard recently premiered an exclusive teaser clip from Mall, which can be viewed here:

Earlier this summer, Paragon Pictures, led by Evan Crooke, picked up the North American rights to Mall. As the theatrical distribution division of Osiris Entertainment , Paragon Pictures will release Mall nationwide. “Metalhead” to be screened at CMJ 2014

This years CMJ Music Marathon will be hosting a special screening of Icelandic director Ragnar Bragasons brand new film Metalhead. Boasting a soundtrack of 80s/90s headbanging classics, the New York screening will be open to CMJ badge holders and will be shown at the NYC Kennedy Center on October 24. More information about the screening and other CMJ panels will be made available via www.cmj.com/marathon shortly. Metalhead will be released theatrically and on VOD by Cinelicious Pics in early 2015.

Fueled by a remarkable breakout performance by actress Thora Bjorg Helga, Bragasons intense drama of loss, faith, redemption, and heavy metal begins with a farming accident in the 1980s that sends a young girl named Hera and her parents into a tail-spin of grief over the death of her heavy metal music-obsessed older brother. A decade later, Hera is transformed into a surly headbanger, dressed in black leather and a Slayer t-shirt, clutching her dead brothers electric guitar as she howls anthems of rage to a barn full of cows. Seemingly trapped in a haunted landscape of slaughterhouses and barren winter fields, making all the wrong choices in her life, Hera slowly and painfully comes to terms with her familys loss and the sound of her own true voice.

Metalhead was the winner of 8 awards at the 2014 Icelandic Film Awards (including Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor & Actress, and Original Score by noted Icelandic musician Petur Ben), and received rave reviews during the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.

Banger Film Inc. and heavy metal historian and documentarian Sam Dunn, who were responsible for the show Metal Evolution, have announced today that they have released the ‘Lost Episode’.

Having discussed various genres of metal on Metal Evolution it seems that the subject of extreme metal was… well, too extreme for mainstream broadcasters. Thanks, however, to the advent of Indiegogo and fervent metalheads the world over, Sam Dunn and crew have been able to unleash the extreme metal episode in its entirety for free.

Plus we will see the introduction of BangerTV.com in the fall!

Amon Amarth premiere epic ‘Father of the Wolf’ video

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 9:23 AM (PST)

Amon Amarth have gone and made the most metal video you probably will see anytime soon. This raises things to a whole new level of Viking awesome, a ten minute mini-movie about Loki’s unrest. I actually got scared during the part where the freaked out dude at the campfire asks the other traveler if he can hear the dead coming. If this doesn’t chill and then subsequently get your blood pumping, I got no idea how to help you.

Amon Amarth  premiered this stunning production video for the track “Father Of The Wolf” at the first date of the US tour-taking place last night in Las Vegas (Friday January 17). You can see the video for yourselves HERE.

This IS heavy metal!
