Tom Morello pushes his horizons further yet again with an awesome alt rock collab with experimental dream pop artists Phantogram. I couldn’t bother to find the mental strength needed to jump in the watery sewage required to blog about the ridiculous Nirvana lawsuit, so here is something way more inspiring instead.
“Driving To Texas” is soothes yet is uneasy, like a narcotic mirage haze hiding true crime deep dives or a missing town. It calls to mind unfinished business or distant hopes and will haunt you like an old regret pulling you in even as you have your foot on the gas.
“I changed my state to replicate the blackness of the blood you drew” is an awesome fucking line.

“DRIVING TO TEXAS (feat. Phantogram) is a dark journey, a struggle for a tortured soul. The vocals, the sound textures, even the guitar solo evoke a terrifying counter reality where the road to the abyss beckons sweetly. I’d worked with Josh on the 2018 Atlas Underground album and was thrilled when Phantogram reached out to collaborate again. Sarah’s voice is haunting and beautiful and Josh’s production is so fresh and eerie.” -Tom Morello
