Paul Di’Anno and Blaze Bayley, two former singers of the mighty Iron Maiden have been touring Russia together since February 22 and made a stop in Moscow this past Sunday.  Some fan filmed video have shown up on Youtube and although the sound is low quality they are worth a watch.  They can be seen here along with a short press conference.

Paul originally fronted the band when they first became popular in 1978 through 1981. He was eventually fired for allegedly being a huge coke head and an alcoholic to the point of missing shows.  Paul denies it all and has been on tons of albums since leaving the band while continuing to release music to this day.

Blaze replaced Bruce Dickinson in 1994 as Bruce embarked on his solo career and was eventually asked to leave because he couldn’t sing good enough for Maiden.  He also denies these charges and claims that they asked him to perform songs outside of his natural vocal register.

Bruce Dickinson later rejoined the band and has gone on to do things such as fly the band around in their own personal jet and hang out on a nuclear submarine.  More or less all has become well with the world.

There is a lot of history with this band and they are currently about to release a DVD set called En Vivo! on March 26, 2012 that you can read more about here.

Iron Maiden announce summer 2012 North American tour dates

Posted by SeanB on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 6:58 AM (PST)

The hardest working band in metal (seriously, do they ever stop?) Iron Maiden have just announced a summer 2012 tour of the US and Canada.  I guess between Bruce’s fencing, flying jets, and hanging out on nuclear submarines the band found the time to hit the road again.

This is all part of their England World Tour, and as everyone knows Canada is part of England, so why wouldn’t you go there too.  Opening for the legends will be Coheed & Cambria and tickets go on sale March 2nd and 3rd with more dates to be announced shortly.

Click here for a list of confirmed dates so far.

The boys are also set to release a live DVD set called En Vivo! March 26, 2012 and you can click here to read more about that.

It must be awesome to be Bruce Dickinson.  A lot of metal heads probably couldn’t handle the lack of drinking, but the other perks almost seem to make it worth it.

He gets to sing for Iron Maiden and even pilots their own private jet with a giant Eddie painted on the side. What more do you really need?  Oh wait, he’s a pretty badass fencer and has competed internationally.

Then there’s the whole thing about his getting an invitation to come and hang out on a nuclear submarine for a while, as in three days.

A self confessed submarine fan, Dickinson was recently invited aboard the HMS Victorious at the Faslane naval base in Scotland for a private visit.  Could you imagine if Maiden starts travelling in submarines!  Bruce flies planes, seriously, how hard could it be?

Iron Maiden’s upcomming DVD/Blueray set En Vivo! is being released March 26, 2012.  You can click here to read more about it.

Iron Maiden to release DVD set “En Vivo!”

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 9:05 AM (PST)

EMI has announced the release of a brand new Iron Maiden Blu-Ray, 2 DVD set and double soundtrack album on March 26, 2012.

En Vivo! was filmed on April 10 2012 in front of 50,000 ecstatic fans at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago in Chile during the Round The World In 66 Days leg of the band’s mammoth The Final Frontier World Tour.

Says bass player and founder member Steve Harris,

“For The Final Frontier Tour it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we’re always so overwhelmed by the fans’ reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire Tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us.”

Paul Di'Anno from Iron MaidenAs reported by dailymail.co.uk former Iron Maiden frontman Paul Andrews, a.k.a. Paul Di’Anno is facing prison time for falsely claiming disability benefits.  Andrews has claimed more than £45,000 of taxpayers’ money in benefits while claiming that he was unable to work due to nerve damage in his back.  But in 2006 a video posted on youtube which showed the singer jumping around and performing on stage during a live show was seen by investigators from the Department of Work and Pensions.

In court, Andrews pled guilty to 8 counts of benefit fraud and was told to expect a prison sentence.  Honorary Recorder Judge Andrew Barnett: “You have got the sense and courage to plead guilty to these matters, but you have to understand that they are very serious.  Although all sentence options will be open, you should prepare yourself for a prison sentence – and an immediate one at that.”

Andrews was the singer for Iron Maiden during their huge rise to success in 1978 through 1981.  He was kicked out of the band in 1981 amid allegations of drug use which he has always denied.
