Rivals Sons confirm shows with Guns N’ Roses

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 12:26 PM (PST)

Rivals Sons have confirmed that they will be the main support act for Guns N’ Roses for two shows in Europe this coming summer.

The band will be opening for Guns N’ Roses on June 4th at Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and then at the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Mönchengladbach, Germany on June 8th.

Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday had these comments to make:

“What a great, great opportunity to get these shows supporting Guns N’ Roses! Germany has been great to us, and this will only help us reach out to so many more people over there. As far as Guns goes… I remember the first time those guys were ever on MTV, me and my best mate were watching. A total shock to the system, and to me and my friends’ lives. We were really young little dudes, but we already loved our rock ‘n’ roll, and Guns just reeked of reality and grit… I mean they were literally very dirty. And we LOVED it. They ushered in a lot more ‘real’ and dirtiness to a scene that had become way too fruity-pants. As a wee guitar-playing lad, I couldn’t get enough of Appetite For Destruction and Lies. Ready to see and hear some of those first tunes played live!”

Rival Sons have released a video for their song “Face of Light.”

Vocalist Jay Buchanan had these comments:

“I am happy to say that our record ‘Pressure & Time’ is about to give us our third single with the song ‘Face of Light’. This is a very special song to us and I am delighted to put out a single with a positive message that can still break a tooth. Three singles from one record; I am so thankful for the support we’ve been shown. This will more than likely be our last single from the P&T record, so it’s a fitting farewell to an unforgettable year with a song so personally close to the vest for me.”

Rival Sons announce European tour

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 12:58 PM (PST)

Rival Sons have announced that they will be hitting the road in Europe this summer starting May28th. The tour will kick off in Landgraaf, Netherlands at the Pinkpop Festival.

Rival Son’s guitarist Scott Holiday had this to say about the upcoming tour:

“Much love and thanks goes out to our UK and European fans who’ve made our last tour a complete crazy badass success. We got to visit a bunch of new places on this one and were warmly welcomed every night, like we were with old friends. Pretty damn lovely.

Now that we’re back home, we’ll be getting a little (very little) R&R, wrapping up all the details for our next record (due out late summer), and even adding a local show on the legendary Queen Mary! We’ll be headlining the Queen’s Salon, a really beautiful, old, haunted looking theatre on the ship. These local shows have become quite rare for us these days, so we wanted to make this one a special one.

Lastly, as soon as we’ve now returned home, we’re already announcing our eminent return to the UK and Europe. More dates to come, but here’s what we’ve got thus far. Festival season is growing nearer and nearer still… And we’ll do as many as we can fit on our schedule.”

Evile to film new music video for “Memoriam”

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:23 PM (PST)

The band Evile is planning on filming a new music video for their song “Memoriam”  off of the band’s latest album Five Serpent’s Teeth which was released on September 26th, 2011. The band is said to begin filming on April 29th in north England and will be working with director Ben Thornley who has worked with Thrice and The Blackout in the past.

Lead guitarist Ol Drake had this to say about the video:

The initial idea was to release the ‘Cult’ video, as we did, then immediately get onto recording the video for ‘In Memoriam’; this was easier said than done. It’s been well documented why the song the exists. When it came to getting the ‘right’/’appropriate’ treatment for the video it was a lengthy process. The song is so close to all of us that we wanted to make sure the video complimented the song and its subject matter, and that all four of us were happy with how the song will be portrayed visually. If we’d have settled on the first idea after ‘Cult’, we wouldn’t have been happy, so amidst touring and gigging we’ve been working hard on getting this 100% before we move on to the next video. The song is basically about loss, which we can all relate to, so we wanted to express that in the video, while staying respectful to why the song exists. We can’t wait to get this filmed and out there for all to enjoy!”

Evile starts their tour tomorrow, for a list of dates see here.

Bonded By Blood reveal album title and artwork of upcoming album

Posted by metalrocker on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 5:29 PM (PST)

California thrashers Bonded by Blood have revealed the title of their upcoming new studio album as The Aftermath. You can check out the artwork, as well as tour dates in support of the album here.

The Aftermath was recorded at Darth Mader Studios in Los Angeles, and will be the first Bonded By Blood album to feature vocalist Mauro Gonzalez and bassist Jessie Sanchez.

Here’s what Bonded By Blood drummer Carlos Regalado had to say about the album title and artwork:

“We worked so hard on this album for a solid year and we accomplished what we were aiming for. We named our third album ‘The Aftermath’. It’s got a simple meaning behind it – the aftermath of all the shit we’ve been through in the past couple years – member changes, unexpected problems on the road, personal issues, a lot of obstacles that almost ended BBB. This is what we love, this band is everything to us, we weren’t going to let other people dictate and destroy our aspirations and dreams. The Aftermath cover art is just straight up badass, it shows what society is doing wrong and how things need to change, or mother earth will fuck you up.”

Bonded By Blood will also be doing a North American tour with Kittie, Blackguard, and The Agonist this spring.

The Aftermath is due to be released on July 2nd in Europe and July 3rd in North America via Earache Records.
