Yob reveal artwork and track listing for new album

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 8:57 AM (PST)

Seeing alt rock heroes Failure the other night terraform glistening space rock imaginary worlds in a small Boston  club made me just so thankful even more than usual  for inspired bands who don’t give a damn what others think they ought to do. Sludge giants Yob certainly fall into that category.

This September the trio will release the follow up to Atma, entitled Clearing The Path To Ascend. A purge, a dousing, a deep spelunking of the soul, Yob can’t help but move earth and create beauty out of mystery. The power and personal growth in their work is perfect for Neurot Recordings,

Prog, doom and drone combine with poetic and wailed vocals to create pure release.

Comments vocalist Mike Scheidt, “Writing this album felt like being plugged into a main. Emotionally, it’s our heaviest. But it also has some real beauty and light. We dug the deepest we ever have to get to the heart of these tunes.”

Behold the artwork that will adorn this work, and check out the track listing below:

Today is a very good day. Failure fans everywhere are bugging out as not only are the famed alternative hard rock act touring again but they have released their first new music in 18 years via bandcamp. This song marks the Failure’s first new music since the 1996 release of the landmark album, Fantastic Planet, and arrives as the Los Angeles trio embarks on their first North American tour in seventeen years.

“Come Crashing” is also included on a tour only EP, Tree of Stars, which includes live recordings “Let It Drip,” “Frogs,” Sergeant Politeness” and “Heliotropic.”

Fans and fellow musicians across the internet are commenting on the new song.

“One of my favorite bands of all time has returned. Not just with a “reunion” tour. But with new music. Today is a good day.” – Michael MacIvor (Candiria).

Failure announced their eagerly awaited reunion in November, which was followed in February by a sold out show at The El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. Spin said the performance “was so dynamic, sweeping, warm, and expansive that it felt like the perfect combination of an arena show with an intimate setting.” The band joined former touring partners, Tool, for a brief March outing and most recently helped Maynard James Keenan celebrate his 50th birthday at Cinquanta. In a recent interview with Noisey (, Ken Andrews revealed the band is currently working on a new album.
