Author Jeff Wagner is set to release his new book, Destination Onward: The Story Of Fates Warning.

Says Jeff: “Here’s what I’ve been working on for the past couple years (or three?). The book cover was based on an idea of my own, executed and made reality by Scott Hoffman and Patrick Crawford.

“‘Destination Onward’ is based on many hours of exclusive and recent interviews conducted with all members of Fates Warning past and present. I also interviewed various friends, roadies, family, peer musicians and record label folk. It’s a fun, serious, nerdy, and occasionally hilarious look at one of the greatest metal bands of all time.

“Writing ‘Destination Onward’ was a total labor of love. Fates Warning’s music has captivated and nourished me since 1985. I know some of you share this devotion.

“More info forthcoming in the weeks and months to come!”

Pre-orders for Destination Onward: The Story Of Fates Warning will not be available until mid-autumn 2021. There will be an eBook version to follow sometime in 2022.

Mike Portnoy joining Fates Warning for South American Date

Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:53 AM (PST)

Adrenaline Mob/Transatlantic drummer and former Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold drummer Mike Portnoy will be sitting in for Bobby Jarzombek of Fates Warning on April 14th for their show in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Fates Warning has made it clear that this is a one time fill in and Bobby Jarzombek will remain their drummer and will be playing on their upcoming European tour and album. The band released the following statement:

“We’re pleased and excited to announce that Mike Portnoy will be our special guest drummer for our April 14th show in Sao Paulo, Brazil. We had a great time playing with Mike back in 2005 at the Headway festival in Holland and we’re happy that he’s able to help us out again. We’d also like to make it clear that Bobby Jarzombek is still the drummer for Fates and will be with us for our European shows in March as well as on the new record we’re currently working on. Unfortunately, Bobby committed to another gig on the same day (ironically, in the same city) before this show was planned.”

A list of the European Tour dates can be found here.

The new progressive rock band, Arch Matheos (put together from current guistarist Arch and former voaclist Matheos of Fates Warning),  have announced details from the group’s upcoming full-length debut “Sympathetic Resonance”. Cover art for Sympathetic Resonance was fashioned using an image created by light painting photographer Dennis Calvert, who has described light painting as “The ability to see in 4 dimensions, time traveling, and creating fantasy using only what we base all reality on, light.”

Check out the cover, the track listing, and a clip of the first single here.

The band -accompanied by Joey Vera on bass, Bobby Jarzombek on drums, and Frank Aresti on additional lead guitar- began tracking the drums on January 12 and continued to record through March with Jim Matheos producing. Arch / Matheos is pleased to announce Sympathetic Resonance as the title of the debut album, which will be released September 13, 2011 in North America.
