June 2021 saw the release of HELLOWEEN’s sensational self-titled studio album. Adored by fans and critics alike, the record catapulted straight to the charts earning the No. 1 position in Germany and Spain, the Top 5 of seven countries, and the Top 15 multiple times worldwide.

Today, HELLOWEEN celebrates with fans again with a video for “Best Time.” Serving as the party song of the album, the track has been streamed via Spotify more than four million times. Written by Sascha Gerstner and Andi Deris, the sunny hymn propagates hope and optimism.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery / I will have the best time of my life / Yes, I know I’m gonna be alright / I’m feeling better in the neon light…”

Gerstner elaborates, “I had an ’80s neo noir vibe in my head. The riff originally was a synth riff, which we arranged for guitars later. The wording ‘I will have the best time of my life’ was pretty spontaneous because I had this strong feeling to leave the past behind and to seize the day! Andi instantly loved the idea as well as the refrain and together we created the track as it is now!”

Directed by Martin Häusler who handled the band’s “Skyfall” video, “Best Time” is a visually enticing 3D road movie that includes live clips of the band as well as a cameo appearance by Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. Notes White-Gluz, “After playing multiple festivals and touring extensively in South America together a few years back, HELLOWEEN and I decided to make a fun video to reminisce about the good times while simultaneously planning for many more!”

The band’s special “Best Time” vinyl single was released on May 20th via Atomic Fire. Limited to 2000 copies, the record features terrific ‘80s retro artwork by cartoonist and HELLOWEEN fan Marcos Moura and is available in three color variants. Besides the title track “Best Time,” one gets an alternative, exclusive vocal mix directly from the desk of HELLOWEEN’s longtime producer Charlie Bauerfeind.

“Best Time” can be ordered in Pink Vinyl at Atomic Fire Records HERE, White/Purple Marbled Vinyl at Pumpkins Store HERE, and White/Blue Marbled Vinyl at EMP HERE.

Helloween‘s S/T new album is, frankly, smashing some pumpkins! That is to say it is kicking ass! The album is the first released with the “Pumpkins United” line-up, which marked the return of original member Kai Hansen on guitars and vocals and Michael Kiske on vocals in 2016, in addition to the five-member line-up active since 2005.

Says the veteran heavy metal institution: “Our new album, Helloween has now reached top positions worldwide, more than ten Top 10 entries with an incredible number #1 in Germany and Spain, as well as more #1 positions at the physical charts in Sweden, Finland as well as the rock charts in the United Kingdom! THANK YOU, PUMPKINHEADS AROUND THE WORLD!”

The Germany and Spain news gave me power metal chills of joy and reverence. How rad to see metal still loved and welcome in the wider world. Are they having the “Best Time” of their journey? Hard to say, but certainly an awesome win for the band! All Hail the Pumpkin King, etc.

Not sick due to gore, rather sick due to awesome, you gotta check out the new Death Angel video. If anything, it could use more gore, as not much really happens on screen, but it is pretty cool anyway. Ok, I said it was sick a minute ago. I gotta make up my mind. Heck, the song is freakin’ awesome. And the video at least is as kinda goofy and yet awesome as Helloween’s 2012 Mayan jam “Nabataea” ass kicker.  Shit, it is surely better than that I, Frankenstein movie.

Thrash survivors Death Angel have gotten a much deserved bump from the thrash revival of the last half decade. Dudes were always so awesome and if anything have just continued to add great releases to their output.

So…check out the new video for one of their greatest new tunes “The Dream Calls For Blood’ HERE. It’s geeky in a thrash way, and you’ll love it! Werewolf slaves, fat guys, massive thrashing with liquid leads and collapsing buildings!

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 8:07 AM (PST)

HelloweenLegendary German power metal band Helloween have released a new single called “Nabataea.”  This is the first single from their upcoming album called Straight Out Of Hell.  The song is about a fabled high culture with a recently discovered city called Petra. It is said to be the origin to many myths.  The album is due in Europe on January 18 and in North America on January 22, 2013 on The End Records.

You can find the song streaming by clicking right here.

A recent press release described Straight Out Of Hell as:

“a work full of speed and toughness, with optimism and great joy of playing, featuring complex arrangements, strong hooks and plenty of catchy melodies. Or, to let the facts speak for themself: 13 mostly fast-paced songs that turn out to be impressively multi-layered and will completely delight all Helloween fans, due to the different songwriters Andi Deris, founding members Michael Weikath and Markus Grosskopf, and guitarist Sascha Gerstner.”
