Spiritbox (ex-Iwrestledabearonce) has released with a new single and music video titled, “Rule Of Nines”. The song which follows up on the Singles Collection EP, is based on a dark image of just laying down on the ground, giving up and becoming so still that you just became part of the ground.

“This song is special to us, because it marks the first time we have able to go into the studio with our producer and create a song in our ideal environment. We didn’t have to make any compromises. I think our other songs have been little steps in the right direction but “Rule of Nines” is a proper leap forward, and the whole process has ripped me out of my comfort zone. I’ve learned to embrace that feeling of the unknown and just trust myself.”

Metal trio, Spiritbox have released a music video for their new single titled, “Electric Cross“. The new single follows up on the group’s recent single, “Perennial”, which dropped last month.

Vocalist, Courtney LaPlante gave her thoughts on the new single, “This song makes me so uncomfortable because it’s about everything I do not want to acknowledge. Feeling like I have no autonomy over my own body. How much anger I have towards those who have wronged me, and the environment that allows bad things to happen. Knowing that something that feels so isolating is such a universal feeling.”

Having toured the world as members of the eccentric metal band iwrestledabearonce, vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Michael Stringer wanted to take their intensely personal and technical musical focus in a new creative and personal direction. Spiritbox was the result.

In 2017, the husband and wife duo sent their unreleased debut Self-Titled EP to Bill Crook of the Vancouver pop-punk band Living with Lions hoping only for constructive criticism. Instead, they found themselves with a new bandmate and best friend. Together, this Canadian trio has set out to bring a new and refreshing perspective to metal.

IWABO robbed, let’s help them out

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 7:42 PM (PST)

iwrestledabearonce deserve some support.

On the night of Sept. 20th, 2015 our trailer was stolen in Denton, TX. Inside that trailer, we had a lot of our touring gear (Mikey’s drum set, speaker cabinets, road cases) and all of our merchandise.. The total amount of everything stolen is over $20,000, not including the trailer itself. Our bass player Ricky was moving the van and trailer from one safe storage space to another and parked the van overnight across the street from his house in a church parking lot. The same place we’re used to parking every time we have a stop in his town. This was discovered the next day, on the 21st, and police reports were filed. The police have informed us that recovering any of this is extremely unlikely, even though we have no idea what use someone would have with a whacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man with our band’s name on it; plus all of our merchandise that we were going to sell on this next tour.

Help the band HERE if you can.

IWrestledABearOnce recording third studio album

Posted by longhairedpoet on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:12 PM (PST)

iwrestledabearonce NOLA metallers IWrestledABearOnce are in the process of recording their third full-length album.

Guitarist/programmer Steve Bradley had this to say on the upcoming album:

“Well damn! After another two years of non-stop touring, some unexpected twists, and getting to visit some new and amazing places, we’re finally back in the studio working on full length number three!. I’ve 100% NEVER been this excited about an IWABO album, because it feels like we’ve finally reigned in ‘our sound’ even further and really hit a stride in terms of songwriting.  We’ve always admired bands like Deftones, Cynic, Thrice, Glassjaw, Mr. Bungle, Dredg, Cephalic Carnage, The Mars Volta, etc because they’ve never made the same album twice, and aren’t scared to keep evolving while still maintaining their signature styles. Obviously I’d never compare us to the greatness of those bands, but, in keeping with that mentality, we’ve progressed a bit more and put together our best collection of songs so far.”

No release date has been set as of yet.

Iwrestledabearonce premiere new song; announce new record

Posted by mattevans on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 8:47 AM (PST)

Century Media weird-metal band Iwrestledabearonce have premiered a new song titled “Karate Nipples” that will be featured on their new album, Ruining It For Everyone, due out July 26th.  Guitarist Steven Bradley feels confident about the record.  “It’s heavier, catchier, and better organized than anything we’ve done so far. We took a really spastic blend of genres and made it more cohesive.  We do whatever the fuck we want, and that normally ends up pissing people off.”

Vocalist Krysta Cameron states, “The album is another story and chapter in my life.  A lot has happened since the release of our debut, and it means a lot to me that I get to express my thoughts, beliefs, and feelings through this album.”
