Top 5 2019 Critical List : Jessica Rae Fisher

Posted by Metal Riot on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:20 AM (PST)

Jessica Rae Fisher

The following is the personal list of year end album top 5 favorites from frequent yearly Metal Riot contributor Jessica Rae Fisher, aka Longhairedpoet. Much appreciation to Jessica for your support of the metal scene. \m/

Motionless in White – Disguise

Motionless in White brought the heat this year with Disguise. Chris Motionless brought some disgusting vocals. The stand out track for me was “Thoughts & Prayers.”

Thy Art Is Murder – Human Target

Thy Art is Murder never fail to disappoint and that is no less true this year with Human Target. The album starts with the brutal title track, but the album hinges, for me, around “Death Squad Anthem” and “Make America Hate Again.”

Ashbringer – Absolution

Ashbringer’s Absolution is probably the most “one of these things is not like the other” of my picks for this year, but the soundscapes that the band creates on the album, especially in both parts of “Eternal Separation,” are undeniably amazing. With tracks ranging from just over 7 minutes to 10 minutes 20 seconds, this 1 hour and 8-minute album is a marathon and not a sprint. Let each track envelope you in itself. It’s well worth it.

Counterparts – Nothing Left to Love
“Wings of Nightmares” really brought me into this album. These Hamilton, Ontario, Canadian hardcore metallers won me over this year with their combination of punishing instrumentation and emotive lyrics. Also check out “Paradise and Plague.”

Upon A Burning Body – Southern Hostility
Upon a Burning Body pushed through to stand out this year with Southern Hostility. This follow-up to their 2016 effort Straight From The Barrio has a strong opener in the track “Southern Hostility,” faithful to UABB’s style. Other standout tracks include “King of Diamonds,” “Burn,” and “Soul Searcher.”

Gloom-core freaky deakies Motionless In White have quite a vast following of similarly minded ghouls who have been waiting for the band to release more stuff from Disguise (available June 7th). Well, the band have a new video out for “Undead Ahead 2: The Tale of the Midnight Ride” which you can check out below!

I gotta say they are getting better at perfecting the heavy to spooky combo-splatter platter and the animation is pretty rad. Plus, the cleans sound a lot more confident. We stan Headless Horseman romantic tragedy-core!

Pennsylvania’s macabre metalcore outfit Motionless In White have debuted Puppets as their latest video from their Fearless release, Creatures. Also, singer Chris Motionless has announced they will be on Warped Tour this summer. Here is the statement:

“We are thrilled to let you know that Motionless In White will be joining this year’s Warped Tour – we’re ready to play a summer of shows you will not forget. We’re buried in the studio right now with Tim Skold creating our second album – it’s been an amazing, all-consuming, exhausting, inspiring, insane experience so far. We can’t reveal much yet, but I will say that these are the most intense recordings we have ever created. I hope you love them as much as I do.”

Video: Motionless In White- “Creatures”

Posted by NichTheHair on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:39 AM (PST)

Taken from their Fearless Records debut of the same name, gothic metalcore band Motionless In White show off their love for their fans in their latest video “Creatures.” The song was comprised by fan submitted lyrics.

In my interview with singer Chris Motionless, he states:”We wanted to do something that involved our fans more than just buying a record or buying a shirt or coming to a show. Just trying to find a way to get people more involved with our band. Were also trying to show that we are serious about our fans, rather than just saying “oh we love our fans” and doing nothing to show that love. I had twelve songs for the record and decided I could sacrifice writing lyrics for one of them and speak their words, since I’m sure a lot of people have a lot of different things to say.”

Greetins cretins! Once again, I have brought you some fresh vittles to sink your teeth into. Before the show, I got to sit down with lead singer Chris “Motionless” Cerulli of Motionless In White for a great one on one talk. In true fashion, he was most passionate about his stance on self-expression and acceptance and his love for his fans, or “creatures,” as he likes to call them. Also, I learned he is an advocate for animal rights and has a massive handshake. Motionless In White is out on the Ignite The World Tour with For Today, Chelsea Grin, For The Fallen Dreams, In The Midst of Lions, and a special appearance by Lansing, Kansas’s Embrace This Day.

Video: Motionless in White- “Abigail”

Posted by NichTheHair on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2:08 PM (PST)

Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Motionless in White release “Abigail” to the world today. Taken from their full length debut album “Creatures” on Fearless Records, the song and video is a nod to the historical figure Abigail Williams, who was one of the first girls to accuse people of witchcraft in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.

Motionless in White released two EPs prior to this album, “The Whorror” in 2006 and “When Love Met Destruction” in 2009. Most of the themes and lyrics for “Creatures” are based on historic murders and horror movies, and have references to Jack the Ripper, Edward Scissorhands, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
