ZAKK SABBATH have covered the BLACK SABBATH classic ‘Under the Sun’, a bombastic and massive encapsulation of the track. Safe to say, nobody is honoring Sab quite like Zakk these days! “Under the Sun” is the third digital single taken from the forthcoming MER Redux series installment Vol. 4 [Redux]. The record also features Whores, Spirit Adrift, Thou and more!
ZAKK SABBATH is the BLACK SABBATH tribute band featuring guitarist and vocalist Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE), bassist Blasko (OZZY OSBOURNE, ROB ZOMBIE), and drummer Joey Castillo (DANZIG, QUEEN OF THE STONE AGE), who have been constantly gigging since 2014 with their unique yet respectful take on the Birmingham four’s classic early songs.
Tracklist
1. THOU – Wheels of Confusion
2. THE OBSESSED – Tomorrow’s Dream
3. HIGH REEPER – Changes
4. MATT PIKE – FX
5. SPIRIT ADRIFT – Supernaut
6. GREEN LUNG – Snowblind
7. WHORES – Cornucopia
8. TONY REED – Laguna Sunrise
9. HAUNT – St. Vitus Dance
10. ZAKK SABBATH – Under the Sun
The brotherhood that is Black Label Society are hitting the road again. Rocking plenty a face off of late with Zakk Sabbath and Ozzy is not enough for the insatiable guitarist Zakk Wylde and the man with a plan is taking BLS back to the stages of America in 2018. The band will be supporting Grimmest Hits and are bringing a stellar array of heavy support on select dates from Eyehategod, Red Fang and Corrosion Of fuckin’ Conformity.
Dates BELOW.
Add to My RadarGuitar icon Zakk Wylde will release Book Of Shadows II on April 8th, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music), his first solo release in 20 years. This release is the highly anticipated follow up to 1996’s Book of Shadows LP, a classic album Wylde released between his work with Ozzy Osbourne that has since become a fan favorite. Book Of Shadows II was recently named as one of the “Most Anticipated Metal Releases of 2016” via Rollingstone.com.
Wylde has been feverishly working on new material since he wrapped up Black Label Society’s “Unblackened” spring tour last year. All songs on Book of Shadows II were recorded and produced at Wylde’s legendary home studio, The Black Vatican, which produced several of Wylde’s recent releases. The new effort will be followed by a wave of tour dates in support to be announced soon.
Zakk Wylde is no stranger to showing the lighter, introspective side of his music, having previously released two Black Label Society albums of stripped down material. The Song Remains Not the Same was released in 2011 which included acoustic versions of songs originally released on Order of the Black and 2013’s Unblackened, a live acoustic album that was recorded live at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.
Zakk will also be in full participation in this year’s NAMM Convention taking place at The Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA January 21-24. Zakk’s newly minted line of Guitars known as Wylde Audio will be on full display in Room 210-D and will be signing from 3pm – 5pm on Friday Jan 22. ZAKK SABBATH, a side project featuring guitarist/vocalist Wylde, bassist Blasko (OZZY OSBOURNE, ROB ZOMBIE) and drummer Joey Castillo (DANZIG, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) performing only BLACK SABBATH SONGS will be playing at The Grove of Anaheim Saturday January 23rd.
Add to My Radar“I smell a massacre!” We’ve got some exclusive Black Label Society, Hatebreed and Butcher Babies shots from staff photog Matt Slater. The show is from January’s stop at the Webster in Hartford, CT and from the looks of it the show was pretty intense. I’m a big fan of all of these bands. Hatebreed have been metalcore originators for a long time, since Slater and I used to go see them (and in Matt’s case his band Beneath The Remains used to open for them) in Poughkeepsie hardcore’s arguable heyday in the late 90’s-early 00’s. Black Label? It’s fuckin’ Zakk. What else is there to know? And as for Butcher Babies? They get a lot of shit for looking good but you know what? The band is not only about sex or some BS. Pay attention to their Instagram feeds and you’ll see how they really work hard, push themselves and care about connecting to their fan base as a full band. I agree that women shouldn’t be exploited but don’t think that means every woman and/or man in a band has to leave their outfits from showing too much all the time either. Bottom line? Butcher Babies fuckin’ rule! Go listen to Goliath now and tell me you don’t want to pit it up during “C8h18 (Gasoline)”!
Anyway, check out the shots BELOW. As Hatebreed scream “This Is Now!!”
Add to My RadarBlack Label Society fans ought to be pleased with the news that Zakk Wylde is doing an Unblackened U.S. tour with doom legend and acoustic riff elder Wino from Saint Vitus/Spirit Caravan in tow. Nice to see Wino is back in action after his recent arrest. He is great on acoustic and is reportedly working with Conny Ochs again soon. Back to Zakk, Black Label Society will be offering audiences a more intimate show. Along with BLS music, the setlist is expected to include material from Wylde’s solo disc, Book Of Shadows as well as material from his southern rock band Pride & Glory.
“You can take a song that you’ve played thousands of times and rearrange it, and all of a sudden it’s something totally fresh,” says Wylde. “The attitude of the songs doesn’t change when we play them acoustically — the tunes are gritty regardless.”

This just in from the boys in Black Tusk:
It’s been an incredibly trying time for us over the past month and we want to thank everyone for their support. We had confirmed the European tour with Black Label Society and finished the new album before Athon’s accident and Athon, specifically, had been very excited about the opportunity to tour with BLS and we feel there’s no way he’d want things to end on this note. Corey Barhorst, formerly of Kylesa and currently of Niche, will be stepping in for Athon for the time being. All of us go back over 10 years and Corey seemed the natural choice to carry on for Athon.
If you’d like to donate to the Athon Memorial Fund, you can do that via Paypal at AthonFund@gmail.com.
The dates with Black Label Society and Crobot are BELOW.

And remember, kids…this is not about gross fruity, girly drinks
Black Label Society have released a great video for heartfelt and world weary ballad “Angel Of Mercy”, easily one of the best new BLS tunes in awhile. Black Label Society’s latest scorcher is CATACOMBS OF THE BLACK VATICAN and is in stores now!
The contemplative video, complete with a great solo on a double neck axe, was directed by Justin Reich and can be viewed HERE.
Add to My RadarWell, this is an unexpected but cool bill. I wouldn’t peg Wovenwar and BLS as the most likely of tour mates, but if the BLS biker crowd have an open mind they may dig what Wovenwar can dish out, though they have way more melodic tendencies than Black Label. Kyng I am not really familiar with.
With the highly successful REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS TOUR coming to a close at the end of next week, Black Label Society have announced the new batch of dates in support of their latest LP Catacombs of the Black Vatican. Tour dates will kick off in Cincinnati, Ohio at the famed Bogart’s venue and run through the first week of August. Earlier this month, Black Label Society made their network television debut by performing their current single “Angel of Mercy” on Late Night with Seth Meyers, seen here.

Add to My RadarA more detailed report on the guitar’s discovery can be read in a yesterday’s story in the Chicago Tribune.
Black Label Society have been announced as the musical guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, May 6. The band will perform “Angel of Mercy” from their recently released album Catacombs of the Black Vatican, which debuted at #1 on the Independent, Rock and Metal charts and #5 on the Billboard 200.
Zakk recently took part in the REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS, paying tribute to long time friend Dimebag Darrel by performing “In This River.”

Black Label Society have made their coolest video in awhile. The brand new clip for “My Dying Time” can be seen through VEVO and was directed by Justin Reich of The Antimatter Studio. While the recent “Overlord” video was hysterical, the current BLS video shows the band’s trippier, darker side to great effect. It really captures a lot of the Black Label experience that keeps fans coming back for more. The video is also notable for featuring awesome newcomer to the BLS ranks, Mr. Dario Lorina (ex-Lizzy Borden, Jani Lane band). Seriously, this line-up kills!
Check out the new video HERE.
Add to My RadarIf you thought you knew all about Black Label Society, you need to hear Zakk Wylde and company’s latest 2x Live release Unblackened. Recorded in high definition to an excited crowd at Club Nokia in L.A., the release features the bearded guitar warrior dropping knowledge on fools like it is easy on track after great track. You can just put this on and escape for a little while into bluesy, heavy metal biker escapism. Unblackened presents BLS classics in a new dynamic, with heavy use of acoustics and a stripped down feel, but scorching solos and intensity still in place. it is kind of like if Jar Of Flies by Alice In Chains was a halfway heavier record.

John Deservio, bassist of Black Label Society sat down with Metal Party Online for a video interview. He discusses the tour, Zach’s health issues, supporting acts, recording of the new album and the band in general.
Black Label Society has just finished the North American leg of their tour, and will be embarking on a European/Asian tour in February.
“Order of the Black” was released on August 10th 2010 via E1 music
