Tasmanian extreme metallers Psycroptic have today announced their eighth studio album, Divine Council, set to be released via Prosthetic Records on August 5. Alongside the album announcement, the Australian extreme metal group have shared the lead single, “Rend Asunder”, and an accompanying music video for the track – directed by Michael Rankine and filmed at Oi Studios in Tasmania, AU – which can be seen here:

Listen to “Rend Asunder” via Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Spotify and Bandcamp now. Pre-order / Pre-save Divine Council here:

Speaking on the album announcement and “Rend Asunder”, the band comments: “‘Rend Asunder’ is a little bit of a different style of track for us – stripped back and streamlined, but it still has the Psycroptic sound. It’s straight to the point – fast, catchy and hard hitting from the outset. We think people will dig it from the first listen. We can’t wait to play it live, it will definitely be in the set for our upcoming tours.”

Psycroptic reveal video for ‘Beyond The Black’

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 7:41 PM (PST)

Psycroptic have an explosive new video for dark thrash song ‘Beyond The Black’. The very gloomy looking and imposing clip can be experienced below.

The band comments: “We’re very happy have once again worked with our good friend and long time collaborator Wilson Bambrick on the film clip for Beyond The Black. The clip was shot last pre-isolating (in September 2019); and due to the Plague and other delays on our end it hasnt seen the light until now. Please enjoy, and we look forward to getting some new music out later this year.”

Ahead of the journey, the ferociously skilled band have revealed a new video for the neck injury conducive new whiplashtastic banger “We Were The Keepers” from As The Kingdom Drowns. Check it at Metal Injection HERE.

Of the video, drummer Dave Haley comments:
“We took a few days out on our recent Australian tour to shoot a couple of film clips – the first one being ‘We were the Keepers’. Our longtime friend and collaborator Wilson Bambrick handled everything behind the camera, and things turned out great. We wanted the clip to be an extension of our live show, and he did very well at capturing that.”

Pyscroptic have released a flurry of riff madness called “Cold” that features accompanying footage of hairy dudes raging and waterfalls and other cool stuff. You can’t listen to the opening attack of the song and not tell me this band can write a better riff than the attack of the tech death clones which has assailed ears the last few years. Listen, I like a blaze of furious riff gibberish as much as anyone, but it’s nice when the song itself also makes your blood rate quicken. “Cold” will not slow you down to a numb state like most super frosty experiences. You most likey will break a sweat and hurt your neck. RIYL anything from Inanimate Existence, Alterbeast, Decrepit Birth or even Lamb Of God.

Get the track on Itunes HERE or watch the video BELOW. Their front man is not messing around.

Psycroptic releases trailer for new album “The Inherited Repression”

Posted by metalrocker on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 7:25 PM (PST)

Tasmanian death metalers Psycroptic have recently released a trailer for their upcoming fifth studio album, “The Inherited Repression”. Check the first making of video here. You can also check out the new track, “Carriers of the Plague,” on their official facebook page.

Says guitarist Joe Haley,  “’The Inherited Repression’ is far and away my favorite Psycroptic album thus far – all of us in the band think this. It’s the age-old cliché from bands when they talk about their current album as being the best of their career, blah, blah, but I have to say it because it’s true. We wouldn’t think there is a point of going on if we couldn’t outdo each album prior. We are certainly not playing music for anything else than the love of creating it and performing it… ‘The Inherited Repression’ is quite different from anything we have done in terms of song writing and structure, and we spent a lot longer writing and demoing the songs before we recorded it, which you can tell. It’s a very dynamic album – the fast elements faster, the slow elements slower, and a lot of light and dark binding it together. It’s a very catchy album as well – you can tap your foot, bang your head or anything else you want. Basically it has a lot of groove on it from start to finish.”

The Inherited Repression will be released in Europe on February 7th in North America and on February 10th in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records.
